This was THE hang-out for Gastonia and environs for decades, and the food was very good. People rode from the Beacon (restaurant) to R.O.'s and then back. It was the social thing to do on weekends. A great place to meet your friends while enjoying a barbecue.
It is still good, but my personal preference is Black's Barbecue on 321. Black's slaw is better, in my opinion and the staff is far more friendly.
R.O.'s, however, will remain in the minds of literally thousands of older folk as the place we met, talked, ate and later drag-raced.
