An excellent 4-course lunch for 43 family and friends to celebrate our Golden Wedding. Discussions with June beforehand made the planning for this a pleasure
Choice of 5 main courses (pre-ordered). Started in sunshine in the beautiful gardens for pre-lunch drinks, then moved into the well-laid-out dining area. Service good and food good. Full marks to June and her staff.

We visited for our evening meal and were greeted by three friendly members of staff. We were the only people in the restaurant at the time. We ordered at the bar and were told to stay in the bar and wait until they had set a table for us. This was strange as we have already peeked in the dining room and all the tables were set.

Anyway when the food came we were shown to our table. The food was nice...basic but nice. The portions arent huge but ample.

Some of our party had the gammon. It advertises on the menu that it comes with mushrooms, tomatoes, peas and chips. Perhaps more than one small mushroom and a bigger portion of chips would have made the meal more appealing.

We enjoyed our meal all the same and as I mentioned, the staff were lovely

I and my partner stayed here overnight while attending my cousin's wedding at Goldsborough Hall. We found this Bay Horse Inn a wonderful quaint and clean place, staff were so approachable and really know how to interact with people! Service for our breakfast was first class, so quick. rare to find homecooked food so available and served so professionally yet with personality! we think this should be a 5 star. the room we stayed in was warm, with cosy bed, great sized shower with facilities for refreshments that Premier Inn or Travelodge etc should take note of!! would recommend to anyone. peaceful scenic gem of beauty!

We have stopped off at this pub 2 or 3 times whilst travelling to places and each time have found the food to be very nice and beautifully presented. The staff are pleasant and the gardens are beautiful, as us the location in this idyllic village.

However the pub is in need of some modernising. The ladies toilets were not a pleasant experience this time. One toilet was blocked with paper and the other was dirty. The tiles are chipped and cracked and there was no soap in the dispenser, just water where someone had tried to rinse the last dregs out. The hand drier would have taken about 15 minutes and there were no paper towels so I used loo roll but then there was no bin to put it in.

All in all, the food and staff are lovely and that is what makes the place but it could be so much nicer with a bit of a facelift. We did not fancy staying overnight after reading other comments posted. Owners please take notice. We are in our 50's and like to spend time eating out at nice venues not outdated places that seem to be scrabbling round for a bottle of hand wash.

Thank you for your review and letting us know this time how you enjoyed your previous visits. I am sorry you did not have another good experience on this occasion and can only apologise about the problem we had with the ladies toilet 3 weeks ago. There was a notice on the door saying "Out of Order" so only the other toilet should have been used. Obviously somebody has tried to use it before you and it was not flushing. Unfortunately both of you have not seen the notice. As for the lack of hand soap I'm sure you can understand that this is something that can run out at any time depending on how much the ladies wash facilities are used. You only had to let a member of staff know and this could have been rectified straight away. Regarding paper towels we stopped using them years ago as they are unhygienic and untidy. The electric hand dryer is checked regularly. As for your comments about other reviews I think it is fair to say as you yourself have proved, most guests/visitors do not put reviews on these sites unless they have something bad to say! Haven't you been to our establishment 2 or 3 times before and not said how lovely everything was on here at time you visited?

The staff were friendly and helpful, showing us to our room and pointing out where to go for breakfast. The breakfast was really nice and plentiful, definitely filled us up and went down a treat after the wedding we attended the night before.

The location is excellent, easy to find and if you're attending a wedding at Goldsborough Hall it's perfect as you can walk there in about 2 minutes. The rooms were a bit outdated but comfortable enough, the only draw back being the bathroom. I followed the instructions but the shower stayed ice cold, when I turned the heat up further to try and get some hot water it stopped almost entirely.

Great for a post wedding place to stay and a good breakfast but from a personal point of view that would be the extent of any recommendation.

The staff were very helpful, the location is beautiful. Howerever 2 of the rooms had a very strong (over powering) smell of damp. The shower was a joke, it did not get warm and it stayed at a trickle dispite following the instructions in the room about being patient due to local water pressure. The rooms were clean but very outdated. Breakfast was lovely and very filing.
