“Thanksgiving Trip”
Reviewed 26 November 2012

This was our first trip to the outer banks and we couldn't have been happier with our stay at the Seaside Inn. Tracey and Chris are fantastic hosts. They helped us navigate our trip due to ferry changes and road closures from Hurricane Sandy. Once we were there, it felt like old friends. They immediately greeted us and showed us our room and how to walk to the beach (only ~5 mins). Each morning we had hot coffee and pastries. Chris kept us well fed in the mornings. Since it was Thanksgiving, they invited us to dinner with some friends who were there at the inn. We all sat around and enjoyed a delicious turkey dinner while enjoying each others company. Overall, this was an excellent place to stay and the price is very affordable. Thanks Tracey and Chris!

We are a SoCal couple, married three decades, who were heading south for Ocracoke well into the off-season when we realized the ferry ride from Hatteras would put us there in the dark. Since we had no accommodation for the night, in any case, we asked a local where to stay and she did not hesitate to direct us to this delightful former hunting lodge where we were greeted by both hosts in such an amiable and open manner that it felt a bit like a reunion with old friends. After a welcoming tour of the common areas, a description of how to get to the beach, and an orientation to the morning breakfast schedule, we were escorted to our quiet, comfortable and perfectly cozy room. We lingered in the morning, breakfasting on Chris's freshly baked goods, beachcombing to our hearts' content and studying the shipwreck that is sometimes visible at low tide. It's true that we later found Ocracoke to be another delightful stop on our self-designed tour of the OBX, but we would NOT have wanted to miss staying at the Seaside Inn in Hatteras with Chris and Tracey first!

A first trip under new management. Great location with 5 minute walk to the beach. Comfortable rooms with plenty of space. Some clear improvements have been made ( new beds, linens etc) and breakfast pastries are made by Chris most days. Fresh fruit and tea and coffee always available which makes a nice return from the beach. Plenty of ice and a corkscrew provided. We spent some very happy time on the porch on both sides of the Inn. Chris was on his own and proved a true innkeeper running it single handed while Tracey away for a few days. Fresh towels available on request makes a big difference to some places. Just in case - there is no maid service which guarantees privacy but means a small domestic chore each day. We will be back !

Room Tip: Rooms at the back benefit from the sound of the sea !

Came upon the Seaside Inn quite by accident. We walked in and immediately noticed the shining stairway, the quaint furnishings, and were then greeted by the innkeeper who immediately made us feel welcome and quite at home. If you like to wake up to the smells of freshly brewed coffee, cinnamon, and the aroma of warm, just baked banana bread wafting in the air, this is the place for you. How nice to sit on the porch (many to chose from), having coffee, and Chris' wonderful muffins and freshly made bread, all the while hearing the sounds of the surf pounding on the nearby beach. Chris recommended so many wonderful restaurants and gave us so many ideas for things to do and places to see. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience.

Room Tip: All rooms are different - some larger than others, some with larger bathrooms. Worth checking out.

My friend and I were searching for affordable options for out road trip this summer. We stumbled upon the Seaside Inn after nixing more expensive spots along the island. The innkeepers were awesome from the moment we stepped (late) into the door. It's a short walk to the beach during the day, the deck is so lovely at night, and in the morning, breakfast is fantastic! I'm recommending this to anyone who would like a relaxing vacation without breaking the bank.

I was immediately comfortable when I walked in to the Sea Side Inn. The Innkeepers, Chris and Tracey, made us feel right at home. The ultra-relaxed, casual vibe is just what we were looking for. Easy walks to the beach, comfortable accomodations and home made banana bread & muffins made for a perfect retreat! Sunsets from the rockers on the porch with a glass of wine ended the evenings beautifully. The only bad part was leaving. We will be back!

This place was great, very homey. We enjoyed the outdoor porch that was outside of our room. Loved all the history that went along with it. Great Location - fast walk to the beach, next to an Italian restaurant that was great. The couple that runs it are great and very helpful! The only things I didn't like was the coffee, I'm spoiled by my Keurig- but the OJ was great! And the bed could use an update- but its the beach, who needs sleep? : ) Would stay here again!
