This is an easy trail around the lake. It is a beautiful and scenic path displaying nature at it's best. It is a nice escape from the busy street.

We went early in the morning and only encountered a few people which was nice. Do not expect to find huge flowers of every kind, the only kind we encountered were wild ones. The area is kept native but it is beautiful, there are plenty of trails to walk down. Our favorite was the one that ran along the creek down to a lovely lake full of lily pads.

The Information Center was closed when we visited, but the Gardens were open. Staff answered questions and were very informative. The map wasn't so great, but the area is not big enough to really get lost They mark many, many trees and plants, which makes it really fun to learn! This was a great place. The Lily Pond was terrific!

I didn't see anything that wasn't wonderful to look at during my stay in Highlands. That said, I hope that in addition to the more well known and dramatic attractions people will visit the Nature Center. It is free, easy to find, easily accessible and you can see it all in an hour. There are well marked trails, a lovely lake and wildflowers everywhere. Educational markers and signs are placed in key spots. I was there in the spring when many beautiful native plants wrre blooming and I was the only tourist there!

The station is right in town and easy to walk to. The paths are clearly marked. We are lucky to have this lovely area.
