We just returned from a wonderful weekend at the Inn at Half Mile Farm. We met some dear friends to catch up and rejuvenate with an adults only weekend away from our kids. Since there are no kids allowed under the age of 12, it was great to be completely away from children all weekend. The Inn was such a great place to rest relax and renew. The decor was rustic yet tasteful and looked like it was right out of the pages of southern living magazine. Our room was beautiful and the bed was wonderful, so comfortable! 4 luxurious pillows were provided- 2 firmer and 2 softer to meet different tastes. What a great night's sleep. After checking in, Carol took us on a tour and showed us to our rooms. The room my husband and I had reserved was an ADA room (handicapped accessible). This meant it had one of those walk in tubs/shower that I see advertised on tv. Carol offered us a different room if we wanted, but we had chosen that room during the online reservations since we wanted to be next door to our friends so we were fine with it. It was nice to be offered something else though.

The gourmet breakfast each day was unique and delicious. My favorite was the morning we had an egg soufflé followed by a blueberry bread pudding with link sausage. Needless to say we didn't need to eat again before the hor d'oeuvers that evening, (well except for cookies that are always in the lobby). All the food was yummy! Complimentary drinks and snacks were available all day as well as homemade fresh cookies.

It rained almost the whole time we were there so we didn't have a chance to fish or canoe or swim, but there were plenty of places for us to relax and chat. There are gorgeous pastoral views out every window and porch and the landscaping is amazing.

Carol went out of her way to make sure our needs were met and that our stay was perfect! We will definitely return. My only complaint....they put something addictive in those snickerdoodles because I ate way too many of them.

Room Tip: We toured the rooms in the main house and while they were nice and overlooked the lake, the courtyar...

"Rustic yet tasteful" — you've summed us up nicely! Thank you so much for the wonderful recommendation, I'm very glad to hear that you and your friends had such a terrifically relaxing getaway. It may have rained all weekend, but we're glad that the delicious treats made up for it. Join us again soon for more of those delightfully addictive snickerdoodles!

We recently stayed at Half Mile Farm for a 3-night getaway and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately because it rained for almost the entire trip, I was really glad that we had splurged on a nice hotel, because we ended up spending a lot of time in the room! The grounds are impeccable and the property has a quintessential mountain feel--without any of the cheesy bear + log motifs too often found in mountain inns. Our room was understated but really pretty--we made good use of the working fireplace, little porch and comfy robes during the rain storms.

The breakfast is far above average and was a really welcome treat each morning. Gourmet eggs benedict, breakfast pot pies, fried green tomato + egg BLTs, and fresh blueberry pancakes. Yum.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is located a quick drive from Highlands and we loved being outside of town, on what felt like our own private farm. If we are in Highlands again, we will definitely stay here again!

My boyfriend just returned from a wonderful weekend at this Inn. The staff was great and the breakfasts were out of this world. I can't stop thinking about the fried green tomato eggs benedict - AMAZING! I love the Old Edward's Inn as well - but it was a much nicer experience to stay out of town and it's only a few minutes drive into town.

We recieved a personal welcome with a delightful comforting tour. The rooms were very clean and cozy. It was a ill piece of heaven on this earth. We will be back for sure. Thank you.

Really cannot say enough about this sweet little inn!! LOVED the room (#12), really pretty, decorated nicely, comfortable and clean, great bedding, nice wooded view, etc. The whole inn and grounds were beautiful. My husband enjoyed taking the fishing poles out to the pond. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, made you feel at home. The breakfasts, well, just DELICIOUS... and big (no need to make lunch plans :)). You can tell everything is so fresh and prepared with care. FAR from a standard breakfast...Jason really out-does himself!! The happy hours were great too, nice apps and wine... and don't forget about the always stocked fresh cookie jars! It was only ~5-10 minutes from town, so still convenient, and we really appreciated being off the beaten path. It was the perfect relaxing getaway, just what we were looking for. We are so happy we chose to stay at Half Mile and can't wait to go back!!

Stayed at the Inn at Half Mile Farm in late April 2013. Very close to town, which is convenient. There are also some nice hikes nearby. Stayed in the newer annex (room 12). Breakfast and 5 pm snacks were great!
