I'm not much for sitting around and relaxing. I'd rather bike, hike and explore. Skyline Lodge changed that. What an incredible setting. Perched on a mountain in an old-growth forest of pines and hardwoods. The tranquility puts everyone in a similar mood. Time slowed down but never went away. Every minute was peaceful. The staff was welcoming and addressed us by name at every encounter. Steve at the front desk and Amanda in the restaurant are gems. Rooms are generous in size with a true period feel. Restaurant very good. 10 minutes away but a world of relaxation from Highlands. Book now!!

I love this place I wanted to stay longer. The restaurant was very good the staff was like family very nice people. The only thing was the room could use some updating the bed was good good tv as well.
OH this is important for people wanting to stay in touch with there phones and or internet email etc.... It is hard to find a place that you have full signal here in this area at this place you get full bars so enjoy being connected you can't even get that in town.

Beautiful views, great staff and very well priced! Loved the breakfast basket each morning and the trails surrounding the lodge are great for an easy morning hike. Skyline is the perfect place for a weekend getaway out of the city!

Such a beautiful place. Very peaceful and so relaxing.....We loved it. The staff was so friendly. Well worth the short drive from town. We felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. Planning another visit to stay longer.

Most relaxing vacation we've had in years! This historic hotel, built in the Frank Lloyd Wright-style on the summit of Flat Top Mountain, is just a few minutes from downtown Highlands, but offers unsurpassed service, food, and views at an incredibly reasonable price. The 4300 foot elevation of the hotel enables stunning sunrise and sunset views from the restaurant patio and covered deck. Mary Jo and other hotel associates made us feel welcome throughout our stay. Since the hotel has an entire pet-friendly wing, we brought our border collie with us. The restaurant food was delicious, and our waiter was friendly and attentive. Our room was spotless and well appointed with a large flat screen TV, cable channels galore, desk, and free wi-fi. We had a lovely sunset view of the courtyard, jacuzzi and deck. The pool was sparkling clean and uncrowded. Other recreational opportunities abound, with tennis courts, stocked fish pond, hiking trails, and horse shoe pits on the grounds (tennis rackets, fishing poles, and hiking staffs available at the front desk at no charge.) One of the hiking trails leads to a private 45 ft tall waterfall and trout stream. The resort also has a beautiful wedding deck and arbor with lovely mountain views right next to the restaurant - the perfect spot for a small wedding. My girlfriend and I agreed that we'd like to get married here one day. Mature chestnut oak and other huge hardwood trees surrounding the hotel promise spectacular fall colors. We cannot wait to visit the best kept secret in Highlands again soon.

Room Tip: Rooms on the left (east) side of the hotel offer beautiful sunrise views of the surrounding mountains and creek valley, and some also overlook the pool. Some of these rooms have fireplaces. Rooms on the right (west) side have amazing sunset views of the mountains, and overlook the beautifully landscaped courtyard, sundeck and jacuzzi.
