My wife and I went to OEI to celebrate her 40th.....everything about the place is wonderful. The staff kept wishing her happy birthday at every turn; the food at Madisons was first rate; and the spa experience was a perfect ending to the weekend. We loved the Meditation room in the Spa. I've been coming to Highlands for years and usually stay in a friend's house near the country club but we loved this experience. Being right in town within walking distance to the restaurants, the shops and the Ugly Dog Pub was perfect. We will definitely return.

I have been going to the highlands for 20 years and this was my first stay here. The entire staff is 1st class, always speaking, standing when you enter, greeting you accordingly. We stayed in room 103 in the lodge. Great place all around. A must stay.

Beautiful property with expansive grounds. Perfect service. Gorgeous rooms with impressive attention to detail. Stayed here about a year ago and have booked to return later this month. The best spa I've ever been to (exceeding those in several 5* resorts). Overall, a relaxing and romantic place to stay.

Room Tip: Loved our suite in the historic inn with two balconies.

Everything about this experience was wonderful. You are greeted with champagne, given a tour of the property, and the staff are very nice and polite. Their is an attention to detail that we appreciated - i.e. having a vegetarian menu for me at check-in so, I could review my options before our dinner reservations.

We tried to enjoy the spa. We tried to get any appointments when we booked our room (2 weeks in advance), we tried when we got there. However, there was nothing available. And the spa is closed on Sundays. They did try to accommodate with the option of having a masseuse come to your room but, there isn't a lot of extra space in the lodges to have a couples massage. So we decided to skip the experience. Maybe, in high season, have extended hours?

We stayed in the lodge. We wanted a room with a fireplace but, it was unavailable. Our room was cute and nice but, not spacious. The best part of the room was the heated floors in the restroom area. Loved that!

We dined at the hotel's restaurant - Madison's. Everything we had was wonderfully delicious! Service was great - Maxine, our waitress, was very nice and helpful in making our selections. The ambiance was nice - good for a few friends but, also good for a couple wanting a little romantic experience.

In summary, book early! The clientele does tend to be on the older side but, there are enough spaces that you can find your own 30somethings nook and not feel uncomfortable.

We really appreciate your great review on TripAdvisor and are so glad that our staff made you feel welcome. Hopefully you will be able to return and enjoy the spa. The spa is normally open every day, but we are conducting some enhancements to increase the showers and locker space, and we did have to modify the hours a bit during the construction. Thank you again for providing a great review even though you weren't able to enjoy the spa. Also, if you return in summer, you will definitely see a wider age range at Old Edwards and in the town itself-- it runs the gamut.

Champagne at arrival, complimentary 4 course meal with room purchase. I would go back in a heartbeat. Nicole at the concierge desk was wonderful at getting us square away with a great package. Thank you!

Room Tip: The cottage rooms are HUGE!

We were first timers to The Old Edwards Inn in Highlands, NC. We went there for the weekend to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived on the property, the service was outstanding. The staff is extremely attentive and eager to please. Upon arrival we were offered champagne, given a personal tour of the property and taken to our spacious room (Hickory King Room # 804) located by the pool area. We ate at Madison's (at the resort) twice and the food, wine list and service are impeccably good. Truly a great place for foodies and wine connoisseurs. This place has something for everyone; spa services, shopping, lounges with bar service and live music, etc.. If you are looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion or recharge your batteries, this is the place for you.

We will definitely come back again, soon !

Room Tip: Hickory King Rooms are located in a building adjacent to the Inn. They are large in size, well appoi...
