“cold shower and no TV at the highlands inn”
Reviewed 11 June 2013

I recently stayed at the Inn for 3 days to attend a wedding. The shower had cold water and the TV did not work. When this was reported, the manager responded "well, we have 3 weddings" so there is not enough hot water.
When the TV was reported, they offered to move us to another hotel (10:00 pm). No apologies. I requested a discount since the room was not up to even a cheap hotel standard. The manager said he was not authorized to change the rate. I contacted the owner and could only reach her voice mail, so I left a message with no response. I tried sending an email, but their mail box is full.
So I have paid over $500 for a room with cold water and no TV, damp carpet and a dark bathroom. I have friends who have a home in Highlands and will ensure they never recommend this inn again.

We were in the Highlands for a wedding at a church on Main St. We chose the Highlands Inn because of its central location in this charming 4 block Main St area. As previous reviews said, this Inn is "old" , yes, it was built in 1880!!! We found it charming and the staff was true southern hospitality. My daughter and the wedding party stayed at the more modern and updated Highlands Lodge but we preferred the Inn because of its wonderful central location. Right next door is the best restaurant in town, Peoletti's. Across the street is the Old Edward's Inn ( for twice the price) where you can still use the spa and restaurant services. All the best shopping is within one block in all directions. For a wonderful fresh breakfast and awesome coffee just walk to Buck's Coffee a half a block away. We loved our first floor room "48" because we had a wonderful patio with direct access to our car. This was our first trip to the Highlands and if I come back I would try to get the same room.

Room Tip: First floor rooms open up to a nice patio. You can park on the side street and access the rooms from...

It had been a couple of years since staying at the Highlands Inn but will not be that long again! Quaint room with a nice private balcony and the staff was excellent. Very "laid back" atmosphere and feels almost like a large Bed and Breakfast (meant as a compliment!) Nice to walk right out to the wonderful shops and restaurants. Treat yourself and stay here. Each room you choose is a unique experience.

Room Tip: Front rooms face main street and share a large balcony with rockers and you can socialize with other...

The location was great but the room was overpriced. We checked with all the inns within walking distance and this was one the most expensive. The room doesn't come with with a breakfast. They give you 10% of their breakfast while all the other places offer some type of breakfast free. In our room the wall paper was falling off in the closet and the love seat was full of dirty spots. The bathroom is really outdated. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is no parking so you have to part on Main Street which is very crowded on weekends. We probable would stay somewhere else next time

I recently stayed at the Highlands Inn for my brother's weekend. The premises were very quaint and well kept, but obviously an older property (It is on the Historical Register). For the price it can't be beat and the people who work there made up for any modern day conveniences it might have lacked.

Room Tip: Room 34 is "Haunted," or so the story goes!

To stay right on Main Street, and be able to walk to everything, and I mean everything, this is your best bet, especially at these prices. This historic hotel is unique, and so very interesting to everyone from the seasoned visitor to the newest to the area. We stayed here numerous times in various rooms, over the years, before we couldn't stay away and purchased a home!

Room Tip: We love the rooms overlooking the street with balconies, and for an anniversary weekend, the little...

We have been going to Highlands for over 36 years, and have seen many, many changes in the area. Many good, and a few bad. But one good constant for much of this time is the Highlanfs Inn.

While we don't always stay there, it is a great place that does keep us coming back.

We love the rooms on the front, with the veranda overlooking main St. Even when it is cool/cold out, we love sitting there, with a glass of wine, and watch the world go by. Relaxing and chatting

The staff is ALWAYS friendly and very accomadating, never leaving us wanting. The rooms are clean and spacious, well maintained. It is an old inn, but in great shape. There are lots of games in the parlour, in front of the cozy fireplace. Breakfast is amazing (in choices and quality), and the coffee and cookies at night make for a very homey feeling.

While we will still stay at other places, too,I know we will be back here again.

Room Tip: We like the front rooms, but the back garden rooms are good, too
