Our first trip to the Varsity was good. Hubby had the short ribs and said they were excellent. The portions were great and the chix filets were okay...just a little salty from the breader used. We had heard so much about their seafood that we tried the shrimp and flounder on the next visit. I like pepper but they should warn people that you can only get the seafood HEAVILY salted and peppered. Neither of us could get enough to drink to flush it down or could finish our meal. The barbequed smoked chicken I order today was so dry that I could not chew it and the plate was literally standing in a sea of vinegar and tomato sauce. A bit unusual for smoked bbq chix. The wait staff was eating food by hand from the prep area beside where food orders were being sorted and routed to tables. As I paid I could see the cook staff in the back eating french fries. I'm sure it happens everywhere but if they are that relaxed with it, what are we not seeing?
