Recently on a car trip on Interstate 95 through the US east-coast states, we stopped at the Iron Skillet eatery which was recommended by our brother-in-law, also a frequent east-coast traveler. We had no idea what a treat we were in for. This Iron Skillet is located on I-95, Exit 106 (Truckstop Rd.) 923 Johnston Pkwy., Kenly, NC 27542. Under normal circumstances we would stop at a well-known breakfast chain for a meal, but this was a pleasant surprise. The truck-stop itself includes other "fast-food" eateries and gift shop in addition to the Iron Skillet. But if you are looking for a good old-fashioned home-cooked type of meal, the Iron Skillet is the place to go. In addition to their normal menu selections, a salad bar and buffet are also offered. The day we were there they were serving a turkey dinner for the buffet. We chose to order off the breakfast menu even though it was 1:00 p.m. and were extremely happy with not only what we ordered but also the amount served. You won't leave hungry and will spend your well-earned money on a more wholesome eating alternative. If you are a frequent traveler of the US east-coast corridor or if it is your first time, keep the Iron Skillet in mind. Great casual sit-down service. http://www.petrotruckstops.com/location_detail.sstg?id=93
