This is our third year returning to Bemuda Bay and this was the best! We stayed in one of the newly renovated condos and it was beautiful. It was a three bedroom and each room was decorated wonderfully. The kitchen had all new applicances and beautiful granite countertops. We were also happy to see the owners supplied a grill, beach chairs and umbrella and bikes for us to enjoy. The pool area was still a great way to relax after a day at the beach. The condo was very clean and we look forward to returning to Bermuda Bay again!

We originally found the property through Home Away and contacted the owner who referred us to the rental company-Kees, and we reserved a new rental (Kees and owner-Jim Rose were pleasant to speak with). When we arrived, we were put in a property in the back that was nothing like what we rented because the new properties were not ready. We were never made aware ahead of time of these changes. There were a few cases where we were told different things by different people and not sure who had the most accurate information. Our group contemplated getting a refund and looking elsewhere, but after traveling all day and being tired, we contacted Kees again, so arrangements were made to speed up getting the new unit ready. Unfortunately, it delayed our well-laid plans (go grocery shopping, feed everyone, and hit the water), and we were not able to get in until near 8:00 PM, so by the time we did, everyone didn't feel like going to the beach and the pool was closed. Traveling almost 12 hours with 4 kids and them telling them that we had a change in plans was not easy and caused us to have to waste all that time plus the next day when we could finally go grocery shopping. As you approach the property-you'll notice the brightly colored, eye-catching townhouses (may be helpful to post a sign directing to the different properties, otherwise, Cambridge Cove-turn left at the Welcome Center and Hamilton and Devonshire-keep going straight). There were 8 different townhomes/condos in each property-all with 1 car garages. Ours (Unit C, so probably A, C, E, and G) had a tad bit more parking room than the others because the other cars seemed to hang over into the road (although the only people really coming down there were going to those units). When we first went in the garage, there were bikes, a wagon with some beach essentials (chairs and umbrella), and a high chair. The lower level had a pull-out sofa (probably better-suited for younger people because it wasn't real comfortable) and a flat-screen plus a deck with a new gas grill. Up a flight of stairs to the next level were two bedrooms with separate baths. The front bedroom was slightly smaller and had a smaller closet but had plenty of drawer space. The bathroom had a shower. The second bedroom had a deck and the bathroom had a bath tub/shower with a big step up/down plus a larger closet. The shower I loved because the showerhead was up high and the water pressure was very strong (may be too strong for little kids, but ours were fine). We could have used a few more towels/wash cloths because we couldn't find enough for 8 guests. Both bedrooms had flat screen tvs. There was a washer/dryer combo on this floor (front loader). Up another flight of stairs was the top floor with a 1/2 bath, livingroom, diningroom, and kitchen combo and an additional deck with table/chairs (*traveling with children-move chairs away from railing*) The kitchen had granite-type counter tops, stainless steel dishwasher, fridge, and stove and was stocked well with dishes, pots/pans, utensils, blender/toaster, and some dish soaps (needed more dish towels-only had one towel and one cloth). The livingroom had a larger flat-screen, but the couch did not pull out, so we had to buy a blow-up mattress because we expected sleeping for 8. The decor throughout was inviting and tasteful. The drive to the beach was 5-10 minutes depending on traffic to life-guarded beaches. The kids enjoyed the pool area, but the hours were a little more shorter than we expected (open 10-7). The deepest was around 5 foot, the shallow let the kids just walk right in with some water features (squirting turtle, palm tree, etc), there was a slide, and the lazy river area didn't have any currents moving you along, but the kids liked to take the different paths and play hide-and-seek. The restrooms/changing areas were always clean. There was a sand volleyball court. They sold ice-cream and drinks by the pool (not sure what was in the welcome center-it wasn't open the few times we stopped by). A suggestion would be to put an outside shower that guests have access to, so that when they come back from the beach, they can shower off prior to tracking all the extra sand into the units because we were cleaning up sand everywhere so it didn't mess up anything. Across from the welcome center were the dumpsters where we had to take our garbage-it would be nice to have a dumpster closer, but that could lure critters, so we just got in the habit to take it up in the am as we passed by. We were not far from the Wright Brothers Memorial-a nice walk early in the day before it got too hot and there were bike paths near the property. Since we were the first ones in the unit, we did find some construction debris (i.e. daughter stepped on a metal clip from the door and cut her toe open). Once we did a few thorough vacuums, we didn't have too many more problems, but be cautious of the carpeting tack strips on the back of the steps because until they are worn down they may hurt if you're barefooted). We were without phones, alarm clocks, hair dryer, and additional supplies that we had to buy but that should hopefully be there for guests there after us. Throughout our stay, we did have people coming and going mostly outside to paint, install the garage door opener, etc, which didn't bother my family, but it did bother the other family that we were with. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and think that once everything is finished and settled, it would be a great place for us because we love the beach but like the variety of the pool area and not being right in the congested ocean-side.

It was a lovely residential community on the sound side of Kitty Hawk, N.C.On the negative was the description "unit sleeps eight", Two Queens and two sleep sofas is inaccurate. There is only one sleep sofa on the first level! So the unit sleeps six, not eight as advertised. Also that sleep sofa is lovely as a sofa, but a complete nightmare to sleep on. The bars poked through the mattress and it was most uncomfortable. Also there was no bathroom on that level. On the second level are the two queen beds with bathrooms. So if the poor guest sleeping on the sleep sofa needs to use the bathroom at night they must climb three flights of stairs to use the bathroom.

There are balconies on each level. The views are of a nasty vacant lot on one side and the back side of another unit on the other. On the top level there was a table that seated four, but on the other levels there was not even a chair to sit on the deck.

There is a pool at the town homes. The photo makes it look a "LOT" bigger than it is. It has a very small lazy river, but they only have a total of six floats for the pool. There is no life guard so if you are traveling with children be aware. There is a water slide that empties in 3 1/2 feet deep water. There is a small area that is 5 feet deep.

The location was very good. It is right beside the Wright Brothers Memorial a few blocks from the main drag.

Room Tip: We were traveling with my husband and I, my two adult children and my son's fiance. I was lookin...

We just finished our stay at Cambridge Cove in Kill Devil Hills. We were thrilled to be staying on the Outer Banks over the fourth of July holiday (this was our first time). I must say, in speaking for the entire family, this place was perfect! The unit was beautifully decorated, and the pool was a nice added feature. The stairs that people have mentioned climbing are really not as bad as they make it. It is just three short flights in which your car is right there.
The beach is directly across the main road (roughly a 5 minute drive) and restaurants were everywhere. My kids loved the beds and the space that ended up being theirs. The property manager was very attentive to our needs during our entire stay, and gave great recommendations on what to do in the area.
The only thing that I would like to mention is that owner of the property (Mr. Rose) felt he was entitled to come and go in his units as he pleased. I felt this ruined the privacy of our family vacation.

My family and I recently spent Memorial Day weekend at Bermuda Bay in one of the Devonshire Place cottages. The layout of the cottage was perfect! The full and well stocked kitchen made it very easy to go shopping and prepare most of our meals at the cottage, rather than having to go out each time. Having a small infant with us, this made life much easier. I loved how spacious the master suite was and how much room the unit had. The third floor sitting area was a nice getaway with a great view. The washer and dryer was also a handy convenience having a small baby. Although Bermuda Bay is not Oceanfront, it was close enough to 3 public access beaches, that it wasn't an issue. The location was also within minutes of our favorite restaurant, Goombays, along with many other restaurants and the grocery store. We spent some time at the pool as well, walking distance from our cottage. Very clean with plenty of chairs...the covered cabanas were a very nice surprise. We enjoyed our morning walks to the Wright Brother's Memorial, the view from the top is worth the hike! Overall our first experience was a great one. The fact that we only had the long weekend to spend in the OBX was the only downside to our trip.

Room Tip: We stayed in the 2 bedroom Devonshire Place unit. Would recommend buying water when in the OBX.

We spent the weekend at the loacation and it was wonderful. The townhome was 3 stories with 2 bedrooms with a it's own bath, and a full/twin bunkbed on the 3rd floor. The location was extremely close to the Wrightsville Memorial park. It was loaded with board games and cards for entertaining late night if we didn't want to go back. I played my first game of Taboo and loved it.

The layout was a bit wierd and the steps gave us some exercise. The kitchen, living room, and dining room was on the top floor, the second level consisted of the entrance and the two bedrooms and the bottom floor was a den/ bedroom like area.

We will be back again... photos to be added later

We stayed here in September 2011 after a stay in September 2010. I've read some of the recent negative reviews and don't share their sentiments. The unit we stayed in this time was very nice. Well decorated and even had a finished basement with extra bedding, perfect for kids, that we were not expecting. The bedding in this unit was more comfortable than the unit last year but some of the furnishings didn't suit parties over 4 or so (we had seven). There needed to be a little more furniture in the living room space and more kitchen utensils and such but no major concerns.

I think the key to Cambridge Cove is to realize it isn't a hotel. Each unit is individually owned, decorated and stocked. You can definitely tell how much the owners put in to the unit and whether or not previous renters have been respectful of the property. It could be a little clearer that when you reserve this property, you need to call the 800 # to Kees on the day of check-in to get your unit number and keycode. If you need better directions, honestly that is part of your own responsibility. The Outer Banks is a large area and many things can be hard to find.

If you check-in and are truly unhappy with the unit you're given, call Kees. You deserve to be happy on your trip, within reason obviously.

Off my soapbox. Love the pool!!
