“my all time FAVORITE OBX pier!!!!!”

Avalon Fishing Pier
Reviewed 13 January 2014

best pier in all of OBX!!! something about the rickety old pier, the smell of the salt air, the feel of the weathered wood, the sounds of the old school video games in the pier house.. i absolutely love this pier. the staff is super friendly, funny and full of knowledge. i love to fish but i love catching even more.. doesnt matter if you catch one or none, sitting on the pier chatting with all the folks that stroll by is just awesome in my book. we always come back here, year after year.

Wow, felt like I stepped back into my childhood when we visited the NC coast every summer. The arcade had older games that I remember from those summers as well as some of the newer interactive games available today. From the various pitches of the old floors, you can tell that this pier is a blast from the past.

Great place to check out the locals and the fishing scene. Well built pier funded partially by donations from residents and fishermen/women.

Avalon Pier is one of the best places to go for fishermen of all ages and experience levels. You don't need a fishing license to fish off the pier, you just have to pay per day or get a season pass.
You can also buy anything you may need, or have forgotten, inside the pier house. Rods, reels, bait, drinks, and more. Not to mention if the fishing is slow there is a full on arcade inside as well. If they served food there would never be any reason to leave!
