We went to the Cypress House Inn on the strength of the earlier reviews here and we're glad we did! Veda and Bill were gracious and handy anytime we needed them. We had a corner room, the Atlantic, and were pleased. Great linens and pillows. All rooms have the original white cypress paneling which has mellowed to a lovely honey color.
Breakfast was around 8:30 and was served as each couple wandered in. The food was delicious with local meats.
Yes, the Inn is across the street from the beach and the Kill Devil beaches are clean and beautiful. We used the Inn's beach chairs and beach towels.
Veda and Bill had their favorite dining suggestions on a handout and wanted our opinions as we came back. They offered tea and snacks in the afternoon and had wine glasses for us to enjoy our own wine on the spacious veranda.
We left the Inn two days before Hurricane Sandy menaced this area. Calling them this week, they report no damage to their place or the surrounding area but four miles up the road, the storm breached the protective sand dunes and flooded some restaurants and businesses and left the street worse for wear. Since this area's street are laid out in a grid, it won't impact one's travels.
Our October weather was perfect. We want to go back again, maybe in late spring some year!

Room Tip: Corner rooms have more windows for viewing.

We just returned home and are checking our calendar for a return stay. The owners, Bill and Veda are great host. We could not have ask for a more friendly, accommodating and gracious host. The Inn is rich in historical charm and very beautifully furnished. A wonderful combination of old school charm and modern amenities makes for an unforgettable experience. The homemade breakfast each morning was delicious and we enjoyed the company and conversation at the table each morning. The room we stayed in as well as the common areas were very clean and comfortable. The Inn is located at a great location within walking distance to so much of what the Outer Banks has to offer. My wife and I were seeking a weekend getaway and the Cypress House Inn was the perfect choice! Danny & Sandi H.

We love this place. The owners, Bill and Veda, are great hosts. The homemade breakfast every morning is delicious and the room we stayed in was spacious and comfortable. This was our first time at the outer banks, but it won't be our last. We will definitely be back to stay at the Cypress House Inn!

B&B was right across the street from a great location on the beach and the hosts Bill and Veda were wonderful. The only thing I did not like was that breakfast was at 8:30. Most B&B's give you a window of time usually between two hours to have your breakfast. The beds are extremely hard and need to be updated.

Room Tip: There are 6 rooms and the two on the back of the home are the largest.

I can't say enough about this great bed and breakfast. We were looking for a weekend getaway to the beach and found this gem. Once we arrived, we parked our car and didn't get back into it until we left 2 days later. We decided to just walk to dinner and to our entertainment (the beach) every day. It was wonderful and stress free. Bill and Veda make it super easy for you with having beach towels, beach chairs, bikes, beach games and umbrellas all available for you. We really enjoyed talking to Bill, he was great. The breakfast was great each morning and you don't want to miss the afternoon treats. We can't wait to go back!
