“quiet and contained”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

this hotel is kinda on it's own, more on the quiet side of town. It does have everything you could want without ever having to leave. Indoor/outdoor pool. Indoor hot tub, outside fire pit/pier to go fishing and it's right on the water. Full bar/restaurant. I find the area is very laid back. Almost too much for me. I should have gone fishing!

We stayed just one night, but arrived there at 10:30 a.m. We had unlimited use of the facilities while we were waiting for our room to be ready. Checkin was at 4:00, but we were able to geo to our room at 2:00. The outdoor pool was small, hence crowded with little kids and family. We opted to go to the beach instead, which is right in front of the property. It was not crowded at all. The beds were ok, although, its starting to sag a bit. We checked out the following day at noon, but we stayed until 3, again unlimited use of the facilities. We tried the Spa and indoor pool. It was ok, but nothing spectacular to say about it.
I'm giving this hotel a 4 because of its location and the staff were helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: All room had ocean view from the balcony.

Stayed at this hotel because it was right by a pier.Access to the pier was free for hotel guest. The beach was private. The pools were nice. The hot tub was a little dirty looking. The lobby was pleasant and offered free coffee, tea and water all day. Overall very nice place for a family vacation right on the beach. No big crowds!

Well, I got shocked visiting the OBX again after 20 yrs. its nothing left of these wonderful, peaceful peace of Island. It's one big Holiday park. However. There are very few Hotels there and we choose the Hilton. We had a nice good size room with sea view for a good price. Of course, as a seashore Hotel it looked used. Also the cleaning is not very well. The chairs outside the balcony still had coffe for a former visitor all over.

Besides that, we slept well. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

As far as location goes it does not get much better. Very close to most retail and restaurants along the Island. Rooms are good and the service is good. They have an indoor and outdoor pool. The outdoor pool is small but the property sits beachfront so you will spend most of the time on the beach.

We stayed here for 2 nights last week. We then moved onto a house for a few nights in Duck, and then 2 more nights at the Hampton Inn in Corolla.

Between the hotels, the Hampton Inn was much much nicer.

The Hilton is showing some wear. The room had a bit of a smoke/musty smell too it. Everything seemed on the edge of passable.

It was a good location though, for our first two nights in the Outer Banks. Very centrally located to grocery stores and restaurants. A busier area.

The ocean waves were quite strong here. Fun to watch the fisherman on the pier. Saw a lot of dolphins from the pier.

If you really want to relax though, skip the Hilton and go to Corolla!!! Much nicer property.

For the most part the hotel was great! Nice room, awesome oceanfront view, was great to sit on the balcony and watch the beautiful sunrises. We booked a 4 night stay and because of an illness we weren't able to stay the last night. They were great in refunding our money for the last night. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The breakfast was one of the best we have had at a hotel. We only had two minor issues and that is why I gave it a 4 star and not a 5 star rating. The floor in the bathroom was horribly sticky..kind of gross me out. And there are no screens on the sliding glass doors. We love listening to the ocean waves at night to sleep....we ending up sleeping with the sliders wide open to be able to enjoy the sound of the ocean....glad we had a 4th floor room to be able to do this. Overall we would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We had a corner suite....full on view of the ocean from the balcony and side view from two corner wi...
