My daughter and I visited the Civil War museum at Fort Fisher and had a good time. It's free to visit. There isn't much there, but it's all very interesting. We didn't even spend half an hour at the museum and saw everything. The displays contain some neat stuff that helps to shed a little light on life and battle in the Civil War era. There is a five-minute diorama presentation that narrates and displays changes in the coastline since the Civil War, the original layout of Fort Fisher, and troop movements during the fall of Fort Fisher. This alone makes stopping in worth it.
