So glad you are back! Bootleggers was a lifesaver during lockdown but The Bothy is definitely warmer!
We arrived at 8.30pm to a lovely welcome. Cocktails were fab. Wine was even better. The venison chateaubriand was so tender and sides were great.

To have such a special restaurant on our doorstep is a real treat. It's been a pleasure to support you during lockdown at bootleggers. Keep up all your hardwork x

We frequented the wonderfully atmospheric Bothy and recommended it widely- it has a sort of monopoly in the area as the only really high end restaurant. The food is always amazing but consistently colossally overpriced and underportioned (we paid £60 for a sharing main which could only have conceivably fed one person on our last visit). The service is friendly but inattentive and doesn’t match the price tag, you always get the sense that they are doing you a huge favour by allowing you to eat there until you come to pay! An encounter with an unexpectedly rude server has put us off the place recently so we will be ending our patronage. A great place underpinned by an amazing chef which would undoubtedly raise its game on the customer service front if only it had some local competition to keep it honest.

I am one of those 'posh idiots' as Louise B has named me below.

I love The Bothy and visit frequently, recommending it to others all the time. I supported The Bootlegger throughout lockdown, whatever the weather, and urged others to do the same. We actually ordered our cocktails at 22.05 and yes, I did question whether it was sensible for us to be served them at 20.25, as not everybody wants to down their drinks within minutes (the commenter below was happy to do this, which is fine). I was respectful and polite, initially explaining how much I love the restaurant, yet was actually quite taken aback by the waitress's response to 'knock back' our drinks. There was no hint of concession or understanding. The situation could have been avoided through better customer service; instead, it escalated.

The reason my husband spoke to you outside whilst he looked for our cab is because one of your party called us a rude word as he left.

The food is great here, as are the drinks, and, usually, customer service is brilliant.

Hello and thank you for your feedback.

We have considered your comments and it is a difficult situation to fix - primarily due to the restrictions we all have to currently work within. Making cocktails always takes time and they are never going to come out as fast as spirits, beer or wine. As you say, one table was happy to order them and drink them quickly whereas your table were not. Unfortunately there cannot be any concession as the government are clear that everyone has to be out by 10.30pm.

On the night in question the front of house staff started round each table at 10pm to advise that closing time was approaching and to take any final orders. Three tables of four all ordered cocktails which take time to make. We could have called last orders earlier, but equally, if only a couple of people had wanted cocktails, orders can be taken later. We have only recently reopened after several months and working within the restrictions is new to us all. There are unfortunately going to be a few teething problems and can only apologise that you experienced one of them.

We have discussed the situation with the front of house team and will do our best to ensure that we don’t end up in the same position again.

We appreciate your custom and support especially during these unprecedented times. We hope this doesn’t put you off coming back to The Bothy in the future. Many thanks.

Great meal. Great service. Fresh great food. Tapas and mains. Lots of drinks. Brilliant fun! Only bit that I didn't like was a bunch of total posh idiots who ordered 4 cocktails at 2215 knowing the place closed at 2230. Why they thought 2225 for getting them delivered was a time worth arguing about was ridiculous, given the closing time of 2230. They had to make 4 cocktails! And when we stood up for the waitress (Ashleigh) they followed us outside to tell us to tell us how we had an attitude problem and rude we were. Vile vile vile people
