This is a wonderful friendly restaurant serving a lovely choice of excellent cuisine. The Cullen skink followed by haddock (beautiful fresh fish) I had was amazing. My wife had 2 beautiful salad based starter size dishes that were skillfully put together. Really good staff too!

We chose the Bothy for mothers day as it was local and we had eaten here before.
We chose the Sunday lunch x 2 and our son had a ribeye steak. All were excellent, great service, great music from a local singer and great food. We will be back again to try the rest of the menu.

Unfortunately very disappointing lunch. Table unclean, glasses unclean as were neighbours table glasses , mirrors in both WCs very dirty. Pizza selected from today's special board has been served cold.
When mentioned that place was unclean when paying the waitress replied 'I was not here last night'. So??
Cancelled upcoming reservation with party of 4 for next weekend as the least you can expect is to eat in a clean restaurant, food was not great either. Have been several times, but will not return.

Thank you for the 'terrible' review and more importantly for The Bothy to be the first business you have reviewed (despite having been several times before).

The real reason for your one star review is the fact that you wanted to sit through the front and took the huff when your requests couldn't be accommodated. You even, pretty much demanded, to sit in the area that had been cleared for the musicians. When you finally sat down you immediately claimed that the table was dirty and it was cleaned, again, for you. The 'unclean' table was therefore rectified at the time. There was no mention of dirty glasses, toilet mirrors, cold pizzas or the reason why not getting to sit through the front put you in such a bad mood. Hopefully leaving your one star review and cancelling your future table has made up for it?

It's a shame that review sites are so one sided. Imagine if the team could review you as a customer and businesses could choose to accept or deny booking requests based on how many (or indeed few!) stars you had...
