Do not stay in the Beach Motor Lodge part of Lake Lure Inn. It is not what you think. If you have a room with a window you look at the parking lot. The rooms are very small, dark and dingy. Our AC didn't work! The TV was placed above one of the beds, so if you were that person and wanted to watch TV you got a soar neck. Very overpriced for what you get. Don't know if the actual Inn is any different.

Room Tip: Do not depend on the local Chamber for any further information.

I stayed at the Lake Lure Inn,recently. It was the best overall experience I have had at any hotel, regardless of price. I found the staff more than willing to take the time to do whatever possible to make my stay comfortable. Which they did. The lobby, the room, the grounds were exquisite. Just what you'd expect from an Inn dating back to 1927. Only with all the conveniences of home ! The Spa located in the hotel was first class. Nothing spared .Everything was as expected. No surprises, except how wonderful everything was .
Kudos to the Lake Lure Inn and Spa, for making a wonderful week for us .
Our next vacation from Florida to NC will have to include another visit...

I swear this place was haunted.
Lake Lure was just a pass through. We arrived late at night, it had been raining, so it was dark and foggy. It was late at night and we were all about to fall asleep. We finally rolled in and walked in, wanting to just be in bed.
The place- ohmygosh- it is so freaking creepy! It's got those old framed photos everywhere, and the place looks like an antique store. We finally arrived at our room- they were realllllyyyyy crappy! You could barely walk around the bed! TV was broken and the room was in bad condition, and completely cramped. We quickly got out of that place in the morning. Yeah, this place would be perfect if you were with ghosthunters. But really? A vacation here?

Room Tip: Don't even stay here.

If you love mountains, mullets, beautiful views, comfortable beds, cut off shorts and historic inns this is the place for you!

No, but really, I just checked out today from a solo trip to the lake. I was a bit surprised by the caliber of people visiting the lake, but pleasantly surprised by the inn.

If you like clean, new hotels this is not the place for you. However, if you like historic buildings with personality this is a great place for you.

I highly recommend a guided boat tour... fabulous!

Room Tip: king rooms have better views

Been to Lake Lure many times and opted to stay a night at the Historic Hotel for a night. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon....The doorman was quite charming and friendly but disappeared after brunch was served. Then the hotel wend blindly cold and unresponsive. No dinner offerings that night and the bar was also closed. Was looking forward to having a nice ice cream and coffee but not to be had. The rate was very highly priced for a Sunday night considering the parking lot was empty. The room was ok sizewize considering it was built eons ago but noticed the chairs were stained and it just felt a little unkept. I have stayed at historic hotels before and this one does not meet their caliber. Surely not like it was proclamed to be on construction in 1929. Overall I expected more from a privately owned historic hotel.

Such a beautiful spot for my nephew's wedding! Overlooking Lake Lure and surrounding mountains, this historic hotel is perfectly situated. The lobby and other public areas were like a museum, with photos and German music boxes, pianos, and antiques. Our rooms were on the 3rd floor, had comfortable King beds, and, blessedly, air conditioning! Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was available at local cafe nr the property -- I would love for the hotel to serve breakfast in their dining room Mon - Sat, not just for Sunday Brunch. There is a pretty pool just off the veranda (unfortunately I did not take a swim). Advice: Do stay in the main hotel, not the lakeside units (hotel room rates were a little more but so worth it!!). The old 'lakeside' motel rooms were tiny and other wedding guests reported that the bathrooms needed updating and the ACs were LOUD.
