Located at mm100 going south and mm99 northbound; it's easier accessed from the south side. From the north bound side you have a short walk through the woods and across a peaceful stream to reach the memorial.
As it should be, this is a somber place to honor those from NC who gave it all. The Viet-Nam war was controversial for many and marked a less than happy chapter in American history. None the less; thousands of soldiers were sent to this small SE Asian country to help defend it from the onslaught from the north. Many of our men were lost and this memorial in between the rest stops is a fitting remembrance similar to the wall in Washington. If you have a friend or relative who served, go there with them.
