“Gem of a place.”

This was our second stay at the Inn. There are not many great place to stay right on the BRP but this is most definitely one. The spacious rooms are well decorated and are newly furnished beautifully. The view from your balcony are fantastic. The grounds are meticulously maintained and are simply very scenic and definitely deliver the essence of being in the mountains. We felt extremely welcomed by the friendly and attentive staff. It is a great location being in between Craggy Gardens and Linville. We stayed in the Heidi and the Alpine suites which I highly recommend. The place stays fairly full with good reason so I would not wait till last minute to book your room.

Room Tip: I can't speak about the standard rooms but spend the extra cash and stay in the Alpine or Heidi...

This is a very nice resort right off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Just when you think your not going to find a spot you fall right into paradise. Yes it gets foggy early in the mornings cause your 3,200 ft above sea level. I've stayed in the main part of the Hotel several times. My favorite is the 2 story A Frame cabins on site. They have a restaurant with excellent food. Rainbow Trout, Ribs, Steaks to name a few. They even have a ice cream shop which opens early in the morning. Took my Uncle there last time & while I was checking out he got ice cream. Next time I'll let him check us out. Great views, they do weddings and are able to accommodate lots of people. If you don't spend the night there at least eat. Food is excellent.

Room Tip: If you stay in main part of hotel get top floor off back with awesome views. My personal favor it is...

Good location on the blue ridge parkway
We stayed in a room in the main lodge. The balcony was so small that the chairs had to be turned sideways in order to sit outside
The room could have used a little more furniture and needed a few updates
The grounds were nice. The restaurant served dinner outside which was nice

Spent an impromptu foggy night at Switzerland Inn on a Sunday. We were thrilled they had an available room. Enjoyed a delicious dinner in their onsite restaurant which was both convenient and tasty. Our room was clean, and spacious. We return at least once a year to this "downscale" homey retreat to either stay for a night or two or stop in for lunch (seasonally) on their lovely patio. On a summer August day, it is so special to leave the Charlotte area heat and sit on their patio with a jacket on for lunch!!!

Room Tip: Spend the extra money for a mountain view room!

Planned a two day motorcycle weekend with a total of six riders from throughout the southeast. The weather did not cooperate but we had a great time due to the hospitality of the Switzerland Inn. Everyone we met at the Inn was friendly and made our stay enjoyable despite the weather (it rained and was foggy all weekend). Our accommodations at the Balsam Cottage was perfect for four of us and the other two riders stayed in the main Inn and their room was first class. We loved sitting on the porch and telling war stories. The restaurant was excellent and we especially enjoyed the bar, the music from the live band was fantastic, the drinks were special and the service from Jessica, our waitress, was over the top even though the bar was packed both nights.

Room Tip: The Diamondback Lodge is perfect for motorcyclists, single or couples, if you want to save on expens...

We just spent two days at the Inn in early August. We have been coming to the Inn in the fall for over 12 years now. The current owners have done a fantastic job of updating and refreshing this charming inn right on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Great food in the restaurant, fantastic outdoor dining and bar to enjoy the scenery, and near lots of great activities and waterfalls. My family and my parents look forward to our at least annual trips.

Room Tip: The lodge is great to stay in in the winter to be near the wonderful common area with large fireplac...

We had a lovely stay, with truly exceptional front desk service. They went the extra mile time and again. They dining room has some dinner service issues right now. Skip dinner for now.
What I love about the place: a great culture on the hotel side for excellent hospitality and personal warmth.
This is a family owned property, and there is a pride of ownership that you can feel, which leads me to believe they will address the dinner service issues. Check other reviews before you hit the dining room for dinner to be sure....
But they stay in the hotel and our breakfast were excellent experiences. And the beds were very comfortable....brand new!
