“Great birthday present!”
Reviewed 1 September 2014

My husband Tim and I, along with our two dogs, had a lovely week at Little Switzerland Inn. We stayed in their dog friendly A-framed cabins. It was Tim's birthday, He picked the mountains and I picked the INN. We ate every meal there and everything we had was great! Tim had a 3" thick filet of mignon to melt in your mouth! They have****star chief for sure! A too die for local fresh trout, with a bourbon pecan sauce! lobster club sandwich for lunch. Eggs Benedict for breakfast.( The only bad thing was their dinner bread, a very hard verity that we didn't care for.) What a wonderful dog friendly place too; our Buster( a black lab) thought himself quite the celebrity, everyone from staff, shop owners to guest and local folks all had to stop and pet Buster, which he just loved. The place is a bit on the pricy side but the ambiance is well worth it. A nice pool overlooking a fantastic mountain view, a hot tub and a gas fire pit, with nice rocking chairs and different settings, where you could be alone to snuggle up or join a crowd if you choose. A fully stocked outside bar, with great wait staff. Live entertainment on Wednesday night. The A-framed cottage was quaint and in the woods, not far from the main hotel and perfect for us with our dogs. I would recommend they put a microwave in the room, if only to heat up all the great left overs we had, but they did have a nice big mini refrigerator and we had a cooler, so we managed to bring home some yummy stuff! All and all a very enjoyable stay and my husband has already said he wants to go back next year for his birthday! (And he never wants to stay twice at the same place!:-)

Room Tip: A great dog friendly place is the A-frame cabins.

We had a family reunion lunch on Sat., Aug. 23in the Mountainview dining room at Little Switzerland Inn. I was very pleased with dealing with this facility. The people handling group events were very helpful. They were willing to serve 36 people from the menu. The food and service were quite good and the wait staff very gracious and efficient. The room rent was reasonable and I did not have to pay the rent until I arrived on the day of the event. The view was beautiful and our family members were very pleased with the day!

This past weekend, we returned to The Switzerland Inn, after six years, to celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary. We had honeymooned here 46 years ago, I had been there as a young teen, and we had taken our children there in the 80's, and we had visited there for our 40th -- clearly this is a place that holds many happy memories for us. We were not disappointed. The rooms in the main lodge have been remodeled and were clean and fresh and just perfect for us. The front desk staff was wonderfull accomodating, including a special surpise for us in our room on our last evening -- which we greatly appreciated! We enjoyed the pool, the rocking chairs overlooking the mountain view (with the firepit), the hot tubs, and the restaurant. While we were a bit disappointed that we couldn't order a light meal on Friday evening (they have a traditional seafood/prime rib buffet on Fridays), we thoroughly enjoyed a lovely outdoor meal on Saturday evening and a very good breakfast buffet on Sunday morning. All in all -- we were deligted with our return visit -- a perfect place to celebrate our 46th anniversary! We look forward to returning again next August. (By the way, we think this place is terribly under-rated)
One tiny complaint -- the airconditioners worked well, but were a bit noisy.

Room Tip: We booked late, so could only get a downstairs room overlooking the mountains. I'd suggest book...

My friends & I have stayed in a cabin the last 2 years. It is so relaxing to sit on the porch after a day of riding the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The cabin was clean, has a small fridge & a gas fireplace. Even in August it can be cool in the evenings.
The staff is probably one of their best features, very friendly & knowledgeable of the area.
The hotel has a nice restaurant overlooking the mountains & a bar, eat in either one, of course the bar is more relaxed & less formal, both serve the same good food. If the Inn is booked over so many rooms the restaurant serves a morning buffet with no cooked to order breakfast, otherwise if under booked the you can have eggs your way
Biker & bicycle friendly with lots of parking, great place to stay if you want to remain in the mountains in the Parkway

Easy on and off the Blueridge Parkway. Pool very nice as is the outside terrace for meals and drinks. Rocking chairs overlooking the mountains well worth the stay. The meals were expensive. Lattes available in coffee & ice cream shoppe.

The inn is well situated in Little Switzerland, NC which is a pleasant well kept town that has for the most part been bypassed by commercialism, on The Blue Ridge Parkway. The inn itself has maintained its charm and "quaintness" while being a modern accommodation. The rooms are exceptional clean and some are pet friendly.

It has an excellent restaurant that offers a most outstanding buffet on Friday evenings featuring fresh seafood and a most excellent prime rib. The food quality rivals any we have found in our travels. The freshness of the food, especially the seafood and beef, is outstanding.

Room Tip: Ask for a room w/ a view.. which is exquisite!

This was our second stay at the Inn. There are not many great place to stay right on the BRP but this is most definitely one. The spacious rooms are well decorated and are newly furnished beautifully. The view from your balcony are fantastic. The grounds are meticulously maintained and are simply very scenic and definitely deliver the essence of being in the mountains. We felt extremely welcomed by the friendly and attentive staff. It is a great location being in between Craggy Gardens and Linville. We stayed in the Heidi and the Alpine suites which I highly recommend. The place stays fairly full with good reason so I would not wait till last minute to book your room.

Room Tip: I can't speak about the standard rooms but spend the extra cash and stay in the Alpine or Heidi...
