“A wonderful "new" experience”
Reviewed 2 September 2013

We'd visited this inn when it was known as Country Manner and had a wonderful visit then and were very curious to see how the new ownership would affect the place. I am happy to say, the place is just as inviting and "like home" as it was if not more so! The new owner, Joe gave us the tour of the revamped back garden and showed us the cabin and creekside rooms for future bookings. We had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and we love sitting on the rocking chairs after a long day on the bike to watch the traffic go by. We will be back! Thanks Joe and congrats to you and your wife Jan on your new place.

I came up to The Five Star Inn for a ladies weekend. The room was great with a creek side balcony and rocking chairs. The staff were excellent and the location was perfect! I will stay again next time I am in Maggie Valley.

We stayed here for Four nights and really enjoyed the place. The rooms were clean and comfortable and spacious. The guys at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. The motel also offered a place to clean our motorcycles and provided towels and rags to do so. We will stay here again.

Room Tip: No one at the front desk till 9am and no one after 9pm.

We stayed at Five Star Inn for the first time and were very pleased. We made a Maggie Valley trip spur of the moment. We just stopped pot luck to check on a room because the appearance on the outside was very appealing. We were greeted by two young men that were very friendly and accommodating. They showed us the room first and then explained the area nicely. We decided to stay an extra night and they were accommodating with that as well. Could not have asked for a better place to stay for the money. We would definitely stay again if in the area! NO complaints (other than rain)!!!

We stayed at the Five Star Inn this last week in Maggie Valley. We have stayed at this location once a year for many years. It was previously called Country Manor but, was sold earlier this year. Nothing much has changed. It was mostly sold out during this week and is "Biker" friendly. When it was the Country Manor it was friendly to motorcycles also.

The operation seems a bit different. They are quicker to give up your reservation if they don't have a credit card or telephone number to confirm that you are actually showing up. So, if you made a reservation when it was still the Country Manor make sure to call them to confirm that you're arriving. If you don't and you get there late in the evening then you might not have a room. Also, room cleanup isn't automatic anymore. Rather, if you're there for multiple days and want your room cleaned you put the little sign on the door. We did when we needed it and it worked fine.

There was a couple of college aged guys working at the hotel, at the desk and cleaning the rooms. They were super nice and very helpful.

In Maggie Valley, if you've never been there before, you need to be careful when reserving a motel room. Some motels are nice, clean and reasonable. Others are pretty rough around the edges and not any place I'd want to stay. For now, the Five Star is still up to the standard of when it was the Country Manor which was nice and clean. I trust that it will stay that way since I've made my reservations for next year. If you do a little homework you'll see that there are a few motels that have a history of always being a decent place to stay.

They do not have a pool. I wish they did but, I kind of understand why they don't. The people who generally stay here are adults passing through, vacation or on business. I don't recall ever seeing kids staying at Country Manor although I'm sure it happens.

Room Tip: The rooms in the upper numbers, I think 19 and up, are in the back and right on the river. The room...

I am sorry that your stay wasn't the best and relaxing. As for the room policy, we will hold the room till 7:30 p.m. you may check in between the hours of 2:00 and 7:30 p.m. The reason why we decided to have the policy of hanging the sign on the door is because we felt that it was a violation of your privacy, and wanted to respect everyone's privacy, The other reason if because we have walked in the rooms with people in them, and have upset them because they do not want anything. The result was the creation of the policy we have. we hope you agree that policies must be made in order to maintain a level of service. we felt that asking people to hang a sign on the door was a simple 5 second task and no one would have objections. if you have any other questions, e-mail us through fivestar5@outlook.com

We stayed at this wonderful motel when it was the Country Manner. It has new ownership and has changed. Our room that was booked a year in advance was given away because the person staying there wanted an extra day. They should have been moved to another room. There were no rooms that fit our needs (2 beds, kitchen, creek side etc.) like the one we had reserved. The manager did the best he could with the situation but, it was not resolved to my satisfaction at all. They now allow smoking in a designated area. One of the main reasons we stayed there was because it was a no smoking motel. This is a different place now with the new ownership. IF you can get a room by the creek I am sure it would be nice. But if you have reserved a room, don't assume it will be yours when you get there! Ours was not!!

I am sorry that we couldn't do anything for you, your suggestion is noted and will proceed not to make this mistake again. The night of your stay we were booked, and in terms of the people who stayed in your room, we just should of told them there was a reservation at least. We want to honor all our reservations first. again sorry about the inconvenience. hope you will be back.

I stayed at the Five Star Inn for two weeks and through the Memorial Day weekend. I think this is a nice place to stay in. It has a large shaded & grassy front yard with lawn chairs and swings to enjoy the breeze. Another nice place to set back & rest is out back by a great little steam, about twenty feet wide. It too is in the shade. Also out back are 'apartment' like rooms overlooking that stream. The rooms are 'motel like' but are clean, comfortable, and most have Frig-Micro-Coffee-nice TVs. New owners are making improvements everyday. Everyone here is friendly, helpful, and are genuinely glad you are here. During my stay, I never once thought about checking out another place...No need.

Room Tip: There are several nice places to eat within walking distance.
