“Bring your dogs”
Reviewed 7 November 2013

We went to Maggie Valley for our 46 anniversary . We have 2 dogs and wanted to take then with us. We found the Alamo online and talked to Dawn . You won't forget her! You can tell she loves dogs want's to make your stay as hassle free as possible. We stayed in cabin 12 and it was up in years but very clean and a well stocked kitchen. We were there three days and enjoyed every min. of it. If you travel with your dogs please check out the Alamo.

Tripadvisor forums had advised us to stay in Bryson City or Maggie Valley (as opposed to other more commercial towns) so we chose Maggie Valley--and the Alamo Motel & Cottages. First of all, the forum writers were right on. Maggie Valley is a pretty location and owners Dawn and Mike do a super job of making travelers feel welcome. Mike even built a campfire two of the evenings which several of us enjoyed. Our cottage was complete with everything you could possibly need. My wife and I both enjoyed it so much we turned our 3-night stay into a 4-night stay. The best part of traveling is the people you meet--and Mike and Dawn are like old friends more than hosts. We had several good chats.

Room Tip: we only stayed in the one-bedroom cottage. great for 2 people.

Danny and I (Sharon) stayed with Dawn and Mike mid Oct. 2013. I was so impressed by their genuine care for their guests. These two know how to manage a lodging facility. The room was so very clean, cute, and comfortable. My word; Dawn even offered to help us bring our luggage in, now that is service! We enjoyed beautiful Maggie Valley; it brought back so many memories of my childhood there. We met friends at the fire pit and laughed and laughed. Loved the flowers!!! We will see Alamo again on our next trip up next fall or before. You don't need to book another motel or hotel every again, go to Alamo!!!!

Room Tip: Get one of the little cabins; they are delightful.

This was the 3rd fall ride we did, and Dawn and Mike were the best host again. I don't know how they do it, but they get better each trip. We stayed from Friday til Wednesday and man what a good time. They make sure rooms are clean and Mike has a fire each night in the fire pit for us to sit around and talk about the days ride. If every in the area you have to stay with Dawn and Mike-pet friendly also!!!

If you are looking for a pet-friendly place in Maggie Valley, this is it. Dawn greeted us upon arriving and had to meet our "fur baby" immediately. The place is truly a Mom and Pop, with quilts and lovely flowers everywhere. Our first night there we took the dog for a walk and met some other visitors at the bonfire. The owners even took care of our dog while we went out for the afternoon. Nestled in the mountains with the cool crisp morning air, I could have simply stayed at the motel and been happy. You just don't get this feeling in a chain motel, or in other locations. Love it!

We arrived on a Saturday in September and were greeted by Mike and Dawn. They told us to go unpack and come back to check in. what a wonderful couple and the cottage was clean and adorable. Dawn is a doll and gave us a list of good restaurants and places to go see. It was a very relaxing and rewarding vacation. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Had a wonderful time and can't wait until next year. thanks Dawn and Mike

Room Tip: any room or cottage is great

Before we even got there she called to to see how far out we were. it was our honeymoom and she had a vase of fresh flowers in our room. the cabin was very clean and she had all kinds of maps and attractions ready for us. she loves to chat with everyone and Mike has bonfires in the evenings. i would highly recomend staying here.
