“Worst Resort Ever”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 January 2011

I planned this trip with my family 6 moths in advance and they ruined it at all. I booked the cabin online on June paying $200 in advance. Two moths after booking they sent an email saying that they had changed the cabin because the cabin they gave us when foreclusure and It was ok for us as long we still have place to stay. In December 28, 2010 we flew from Miami to Asheville. When we got to the resort around 8:00 pm the manager told us by phone because it was late and they work until 5:00 pm that there was a problem that the water was running slow something that was not true because in reality there was not running water not even a drop. So we wait until next day in the morning to complaint so we did and the manager told us that he was going to fix the problem like 2 hours after the manager sent a guy with with bottles of water what a joke... they pretended that we were to stay 5 days taking showers bottle by bottle and do we have to flush the toilet using bottles too? what happened in the mains of those people? I book moths in advance and I paid like $2500 to be relaxed and enjoy Skiing too not to do the not so brilliant idea they had for us.They could informe me at least days before arriving but they did not. They gave us full refund but that is not the idea and that was not part of the pan. Thanks God we could find an hotel in the middle of the season. I could not believe that that was happening to us when we planned everything in advance by the book. In addition to all before arriving to the cabin we spent almost $500 in food because they told us that was not supermarket near by. Well that is my story and I hate these people they could do better.

We had an amazing family vacation! Everyone on staff was very friendly and helpful. There was so much to do for the everyone. Skiing was fabulous! We even enjoyed our nightly gatherings at the pool. The kids loved the water slide too! Cant forget how great the hottub was after a long day of skiing!
As for the cabin... Toboggan Run was our choice! No regrets! It was walking distance to the slopes, ski lifts, ticket window, ski rental and pool. They even have a cute nook to put all the ski gear. Very handy!! The cabin had everything we needed to have a perfect vacation. The game room was the family hangout.... huge plasma tv, pool table, foosball table and tons of board games! We all enjoyed the hottub on the deck too! The kids loved sleeping in the bunkbeds! My husband and I loved the master suite on the main level. The cabin was very comfy and warm. There were 2 beautiful stone fireplaces. There is nothing better than sitting in front of a fire with your family after a long day of skiing! It could not have been anymore perfect! We will absolutely be back next year!!

Eight ladies stayed at the "Sky Box", Cabin #265 from March 18-21, 2010 and had a fabulous time. The cabin was well appointed and had everything we needed to enjoy a weekend full of fun, laughter and relaxation. (plenty of dishes, glasses, cooking items, games, bedding, linens...) We spent a lot of time on the balcony in the rocking chairs in awe of the beautiful view of the mountains. In fact, one afternoon we piled in our van to drive and experience the "Blue Ridge Parkway". For the majority of us "northern" ladies, this was our first time on the Parkway. We drove 10-15 miles on the Parkway, stopped at a few "viewing spots" and then one of the ladies spoke out and questioned, "Why are we out driving when we could be sitting in the hot tub or rocking in a chair while looking at the beautiful view from the deck of the "Sky Box". So with that suggestion we all drove back!!! The view at sunset is breathtaking.
We would all recommend this property and look forward to another weekend away!!!

This place is the best place for families get togethers. The homes has everything you can imagine in them to help keep everyone happy and the resort is for all ages. Our visit had grandmother to Grandchildren ranging from 8 to 79 years old all in one large home and we had a blast from start to finish. We didn't have to worry about stepping on each others toes. It was unbelievible, exciting and breathtaking. The resort had so many activities that we were unable to do they all even in 4 days. The staff was wonderful and worked with us when it came to dealing with "blizzard 09". They were working non stop keeping the roads cleared th best they could. You don't have to worry about packing anything but clothes, food and drinks. We will make this a every year event because it was the BOMB.

We were so impressed with the scenery, that we never wanted to leave the rocking chairs on our deck! By the end of our 4 day stay we really felt rested and tranquil (and not quite ready to go back to the hustle and bustle of our daily lives). This really is the perfect spot to recoup, relax, and do nothing, while being perched on a gorgeous mountain top!

The cabin itself was really spacious, very comfy (even if the decor was a little too "mountain cutesy" for my taste), but the best part is the location--it just can't be beat! The whole place was very clean, and we enjoyed the nice big TV, the outside jacuzzi, and even a downstairs game room with a pool table. Still, we spent most of the time on one of our cabin's two decks, just relaxing and enjoying the breath-taking views and the peace and quiet.

I did think the drive up the side of the mountain to the cabin was not for the faint of heart, but I'm a chicken when it comes to heights, and my husband thought the winding road was no big deal--so to each their own! The trek was certainly worth it though, and we'd definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed our stay. We have four boys (14, 12, 9, 8) so we stayed at the Mountain Airie, 48. They provide a WII and a Playstation 3 along with games. The cabin also had a basketball game and pool table. The boys were always occupied while we got to relax on the deck. The ONLY negative we experienced were the ants. They were terrible. I've been told that it is to be expected, though. It has something to do with the log cabin and rain.

europeans are normally very picky about places to stay. i have to say that i was very impressed with this place. in fact, this was one of my most memorable family vacations. our cabin was spacious and well equipped. the barbecue grill was a dream come true, the jacuzzi too. and the game room kept the tots busy while the grown ups relaxed.
we booked online and it worked out perfectly. no glitches whatsoever, and that from across the "pond!"
friendly staff, nice indoor pool, great view.
