“Excellent raft company, personal and professional.”
Reviewed 28 August 2014

Everything with blue heron gets 5 stars- great value, excellent staff, personal service, beautiful photos to take home, clean facility with hot showers, and of course fantastic memories of day on the river together. We have rafted with other companies before but will make them our first choice for rafting the French Broad. Thanks!

That's what we like to hear: "...fantastic memories of a day on the river together." That is so important to us. Sharing a day on the river with new friends. Fun, smiles, beauty and connections. One of the main reasons we do this, and continue to do this, year after year.
Thank you and please visit again soon.

“Top Notch Company - Highly Recommend”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

This is a class operation that does a great job of making sure you're safe - and have the best possible time on the river. The outpost facility is awesome - with large restrooms, including separate private showers with hot water and private changing areas. They were very clean and accomodating. If you don't have water shoes - pick from a myriad of shoes others have left behind - no charge.
The river experience was really alot of fun. The guides were experienced, friendly and could provide local history as we went down the river. We really enjoyed stopping to jump off the rocks, or floating down the river while the guides tended to our rafts or duckies. We were on the full day trip which included lunch, which was plentiful:Cold cuts with meats, cheeses, tomatoes, lettuce - hummus, carrots, chips, bread, peanut butter, oreos (everyone's favorite) and oranges. If you have special dietary concerns, they're happy to work with you. We did not go hungry.

The photos are very reasonably priced, as was the merchandise. Everyone we met in this operation was great and will definitely be back.

We love large groups! Exactly the same amount as we love small groups. And medium groups. Each group size has its own personality, energy and charm. We just love floating down the river with smiling, happy, and excited people. What could be better. And whitewater rafting, by its very nature, is a team building sport.
Thanks again for rafting with us. Hope to see you again soon. (Regardless of your group size.)

“excellent experience, must do.”
Reviewed 18 August 2014

A wonderful group of people to take an adventure with. The staff was fun and knowledgeable and made the experience personal and exciting. I would have gone again that very minute if they would have let me. Wags was our guide and his personality and expertise was more than outstanding. I will be back for sure. Worth every penny and more.

“Beautiful river”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

Our guide Doug was really helpful in getting our raft as well as the individual "duckies" through the rapids .... And he had some great stories about the history of the river and the area. The rapids were really easy, so this would be great to take younger kids. My 18 year old had a duckie and liked it a lot, but she would have been bored in the raft.

They take safety very seriously which is probably good in the spring when the rapids are rougher. The lunch was good and all the staff were really organized and friendly. I also liked that they had shower facilities to clean up before getting back in the car.

I'd definitely do it again, but earlier in the season.

Glad you enjoyed your trip, and the duckies are a great option at certain water levels for folks who want a little more whitewater action. Since the French Broad is a free flowing river you just never really know when the water is going to be high or low. Though it is true that the river typically runs higher in the spring it is all dependent on rainfall. Fall can bring hurricanes to the coast which can bring us large amounts of rain. The summer months are typically when the river is running lowest but last year it was highest in the summer. Keeps us on our toes and we like that. This river is a living thing we strive to appreciate all the different personalities it presents.
Thanks again for rafting with us and we appreciate you writing a review. Hope to be on the river again with you soon.
