A favorite place for weekday lunch on Monroe. I order off the lunch special menu which has good variety, good food (the lunch sirloin is often better that their regular items) and modest prices. Must be a good place to work as their staff has been there for years and know many of their customers.

We come for lunch often - $7 cash gets you the express lunch and includes your drink. The hot food is honestly just so-so, your typical hot bar food. I do however, love the chicken and dumplings type dish that is made with penne pasta instead of dumplings. Wish they had that all the time!

We really come for the salad bar! Lots of choices, always fresh and is kept full on the bar, and the dressing is good too - especially the homemade ranch. Definitely don't forget to get a yeast roll or two to go with it!

One of the few places left that has a buffet and a menu selection. Not as extensive as Golden Corral, and no steak on buffet, but it does have filling fare. The clientele are older patrons and small families who obviously wish to avoid the jostling and crowds found at Golden Corrals. It does have two small rooms for groups at the back, which are near the buffet. The salad bar is large and well stocked. The main buffet is actually split into two and a half sections, so look over the whole area. They often have items on the buffet you don't see on typical buffets, like chicken livers and fried fatback. The cuisine is definitely southern. Waitstaff has been within awhile and quite experienced. Also definitely southern. The atmosphere is very laid back and the decor is definitely dated. It reminds you of what a steakhouse in the late '70s or early '80s would look like. While the food quality is average to above average (though the livers were spectacular, not overcooked), the lack of people pushing and shoving around the buffet or children running around and piling food they won't eat on a plate made it a much better dining experience.
