We recently stayed at this place for a weekend wedding. we had 7 children under the age of 10. due to the size of our party we were in many rooms. After the first night of the kids over zealousness and excitement, we were asked to stay in a meeting room to keep the noise down made by the children. We complied 100%. despite this one room that was originally not supposed to be close to our party was unhappy with the kids and kept calling the police TWO nights, not three. the hotel immediately took their side and instead of moving these guests displaced us in the middle of the night. What is horrible about this is, 2 of the rooms that were asked to leave, 1 was two ladies over 80 that were in the meeting room at the time of the complaint and didn't have children and the second room was a 70 year old lady who didn't have children and was also downstairs in the meeting room. a third room had their children in bed sound asleep but was still asked to leave. Winngate did not preform good customer service when this all happened. If they had cared to look they would have seen the majority of us in the meeting room, like we were told and most of the kids at this point in the bed by then. the unhappy guest could have been moved earlier by the hotel staff and even told a member of our group he was getting us thrown out that night when we ran into him on the elevator. during the craziness of being removed with 7 children and three ladies over 70, we were treated inexcusable by the front desk. The clerk, Veronica threw things at the bride, walked away from her, refused to help her when she tried to get things in order to redo all the plans for the wedding the next day since they were all based out of the hotel. She was absolutely horrible and didn't know her job at all. If you get her on the phone when you call hang up and call later. She spends most of the night outside smoking anyway when she should be inside learning her job and correct customer service. Since getting thrown out with out just cause, the hotel has put fraudulent charges on two of the credit cards used and told many lies in order to do so. The condition of the meeting room was fine. Yes, we left the bag of garbage in the room only because nobody told us where the dumpster was. We pulled it out of the can and tied it up to be nice. Thankfully we have pictures taken in that room moments before we are thrown out. The two credit card holders called numerous times yesterday and today to speak to a manager to only be ignored, hung up on several times (by Veronica), and told that the post it note they wrote the message on was small and the manager has a big desk it may get lost. The bride still has not heard from management after throwing everyone out and this is all the Winngates fault due to the fact the bride had done a blocked room and was assured they would be all together. Upon reading the reviews for the hotel, we see that there has been a history of noise problems yet the hotel instead of trying to please everyone automatically discriminated against my family. We wish she had done her homework a little better and gone with some of the other hotels who had offered her better blocked room rates, assured her we would have 1 floor to ourselves, but she went with Winngate due to location. I would have driven two more minutes longer for cheaper rate and better service, which we got elsewhere. Which mind you, we didn't have one issue and the day of the wedding had about 15 more people in and out of rooms getting ready. I am so glad that we have taken this to the local news and the bride is a member of the Mooresville South Iredell chamber of commerce and is going to write an email to all the members about how we were treated and the horrible customer service. This was not a rowdy bunch of drunks destroying the place, it was a group of people sitting in a meeting room and a couple of kids trying to get to bed that were thrown out in the middle of the night. DO NOT STAY HERE.. you will be charged extra fees, the walls are too thin and the doors are too heavy, they don't try to accommodate all guests, and customer service is terrible.
I am so sorry that this happened to your group. I want to ensure you that when you reserve a block of rooms at ANY hotel, this is just for the number of rooms and room types you need, not for a floor nor a certain location. I am the person who made the group and talked to the bride. I was not aware how vivacious the group would be. I have been in the hotel business over 15 years and at the Wingate by Wyndham for 13 years. I have never guaranteed rooms next to each other or even on the same floor. We did try and put everyone who arrived under the same name on the same floor and as close to each other as possible. I was even the one of the ones checking everyone in. I went the extra mile to accommodate the brides sister who had another room coming in the next day to make sure that they were close to each other and make her happy. I did speak to the bride, the brides mother, one of the sisters and the brides best friend on Thursday and Friday. They were aware of the noise issues and the problems it was causing with the other guests. It was not our intention to upset anyone. The disturbance was loud and was out of our control, so several guests as well as my guest service representative did call the police. It is a common courtesy and a noise ordinance to be quiet from the hours of 10pm until 8am in public areas, this is why I provided the meeting room to the group free of charge. In the end, everyone was in a much happier place.
