“An Excellent meal”
Reviewed 31 July 2013

The shrimp and grits, which others have described, is outstanding as was the green tomato soup. The berry cobbler was also excellent. The wine list has some unusual choices but there is something that most would like. This is a place we will visit again even thought it is somewhat of a drive. Excedllent service.

“Great Deco and Nice View”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

This was somewhere I saw on TripAdvisor and thought it sounded kind of cool. It was decorated really nice and had a great view on the deck. However it really was over priced for what you got. My husband and two kids went in, shared one appetizer, wine for me and soda for the other three with a check that cost almost as much as an entire meal the night before. Was hoping for more of an "experience" after reading about it on here and seeing the check.

“Hidden Gem! Worth every penny!”
Reviewed 25 July 2013

My husband and I were in Nag's Head for a conference. We just happened to see this restaurant one evening on the Food Network's "Diners, Dives and Drive-Ins". Learned about their fried pickles from beginning to end. Got there at about 4:30. They are only open at 5pm, so we started with the appetizer of fried pickles. We could tell they had been "home-made". Don't know how they get the breading that light, but they were absolutely the best we'd ever had. The dill dip they make is perfect for these. A lot of places in NC claim to have good fried pickles, but these WIN, hands down! I also had a specialty drink made with dry white wine, sparkling wine and pureed strawberries made from their home-made strawberry preserves. It was topped with a slice of cucumber and was very refreshing after a long, hot day! For entrees, my husband had the shrimp and grits. I had scallops. When we've tried shrimp and grits before, we have been served a bowl of grits with shrimp "plopped" on top and other things mixed in. The presentation alone of their delicious food impressed us. The shrimp and grits came out on a long, rectangular plate. There were 3 or 4 lightly fried "shrimp cakes" and three or four piles of shrimp neatly arranged with a home-made "salsa" of fresh fruit, or something. It was simply wonderful. The scallops were equally as impressive. On the plate was a smear of home-made blueberry preserve. I really should have taken a picture of the food, because it's almost undescribable. Yes, it's THAT good! For dessert, we shared a heavenly item best described as a combination between a chocolate brownie, fudge, Nutella, nuts, etc. It was so sweet we asked the waitress to box some up for later! The setting is wonderful, right on the "sound". We sat on the deck and enjoyed watching the birds. Yes, the bill (including tip) for two was around $80 with tip, drinks, etc. It was a "splurge" for us, as we were on vacation. Worth finding and trying! Tip for finding it: look for Kitty Hawk Kites on one side and Tale of the Whale restaurant on the other side. On the left as you're heading out on the bridge toward Roanoke Island.

We stopped in for drinks and appetizers and found a really unique spot. The wait staff is really attentive and knowledgable. Would love to visit on a sunny day and enjoy the beautiful outdoor tables.

We had an excellent meal out last night in the Outer Banks. One word describes this quickly little place with wonderful tables by the water...WOW! It may not be for everyone but we loved it!
