Newly renovated and expanded. Gift shop, sea life exhibits, fishing, and generally a beautiful place to take in the Nags Head environs. Take a break for yourself, your family or your group.

The pier has alot of history which you can read about as it is posted on the building on large panels... take time to read!!!.. So very interesting!!!! There is a $2.00 donation to walk onto the pier which helps with the maintenance. The views are just fabulous...........we loved it!!!! There are aquariums inside but on our visit it was going through a renovation. They have a lovely gift shop, which has nice souvenirs. Of course, there is the fishing, which comes with some fees. During the summer they have educational programs for all...definitely make this a stop when your visiting the OBX.

Large schools of fish in the ocean and the brown Pelicans were feeding! Could have spent all day just watching the birds. This pier is for some serious fisherman who use this pier day and night. A $2 donation to walk onto the pier helps with the maintenance. Other fees apply to people who are actually fishing.

There is ample parking and it's wheelchair accessible. There is a long history to Jennette's Pier which is detailed on panels outside on the front. Take the time to read this, it's worth it. The pier was first destroyed by wood rot over 50 years ago and has since been rebuilt several times after being destroyed by hurricanes - one storm tossed a submerged ship through the middle of it.

Now that the NC Parks have taken over the pier, it's a thing of beauty on many levels. The massive concrete piers make the the one built only with wood seem like matchsticks. This is a leed-certified green structure - huge windmills take advantage of the near-constant breezes here and there is also solar. There are aquariums on display inside. There is a nice gift shop if you're looking for souvenirs. Oh, and plenty of fishing, too. They request a $2 donation, but there's no pressure (the donation box is RIGHT by the door where you walk out - very easy to see, if you'd like to make a donation, which I happily do every time I visit). In the summer, there are a lot of family educational programs about sea life, the beach in general, and learn-to-fish type programs - all very reasonable and fun. It's a great asset to Nags Head and I would put it on your list of things to see while you're in the area. It's at MP 16.5, which is the crossroads for the beach road, bypass, causeway to Manteo, and entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. It's also one of the longest piers on the Atlantic and well-worth the trip to the end of the pier.
