Booked the house 6 months ago and planned it for my sons Spring Break at school. I was worried it would still be too cold, so we made sure to find a house with a pool that was heated. April 15th was the day we checked in and that was the first day of the year the pool would be open, so it worked out great. They had the pool open and the Heater had been running, so it was warm like bath water, Perfect!
This house was a rare find as one side had a pool with a short 4 foot wooden fence around it with kid proof lock on the top. On the other side of the house, it had the same 4 foot wood fence that created a small area which was perfect for a dog. I could open the front door and let the dog out and he would run down the stairs into the yard and do his business and sit out in the sun without any leash or runner which was Great. Yes, the house was pet friendly.
The house was setup perfect as the top level was an open Floor plan with a kitchen with all nice appliances and an island with sink, Dish washer and cabinets on the kitchen side and a bar with stools on the other side. They also had a nice table to eat at, along with a washer and dryer closet and a half bath. The top level is basically where we spent most of our time when in the house.
Lower level had four bedrooms, 3 with queens and 1 with two sets of bunk beds to accomodate 4 kids and they were all nice. What worked Great for us, was the Master had a Bathroom that opened on both sides. The other side opened to the Bunk Bed room, so when we slept, we would lock the kids room and open the bathroom up so if our 2 year old woke up, we would hear and he would walk straight through to where we were sleeping. there was a second full bathroom downstairs for the other 2 rooms. the Master also had a door to the mid level deck, which was great when we got out of the pool, we can hang out stuff on the balcony and go straight in to our room to change.
The Beach was really close, within 50 yards, so a 1 minute walk. We purposely picked this house because it had everything we needed and wanted and it was at the Very Southern end of Nags head before the State park, so there were only a couple of roads south of us and then no houses. This made the beach so nice as there were very few people on the beach, so everyone on the beach had all the space they needed and we were able to fish without worrying about anyone as there were some people swimming like my son, even though the water was 60 degrees, but everyone is so spread out, there were no worries.
Pros: House is setup Perfect for our family and pet! Top floor is a wide open floor plan, you can spend the entire time there for eating, entertaining, nice large TV, Cable and a huge selection of DVD, Blue Ray movies and board games. Down stairs was all business for sleeping, bathing, getting dressed. It was all rooms and bathrooms, perfect.
Pool, Hot Tub worked Great. Brand new gas grill which I used a couple of nights cooking ribs, chicken and steaks. Beach is 40 steps away, perfect! Pool and side yard are fenced, great for small kids and pets.
Cons: When we arrived at 4:30pm, we had to wait for the carpet to finish being steam cleaned, carpets were wet for first day, but dry by next morning. I was happy they did the carpets in the mid level, no problem,,,,but I wish they would of done the top level as the carpet was stained and could of used it really bad.
One thing I will say, Outer Banks Blue was VERY perceptive to any issues and would call and check up while we were there. We had an issue where the pool heater cut off and the pool started cooling one day, they sent the pool person out and had it fixed and they serviced and cleaned the pool again, mid week. So, we had no complaints with Outer Banks Blue, they were really nice and have all services ready to go as needed and they handle issues when you call them.
So all in all, we were very happy with our stay and we will Def. book this house again, hopefully next spring... First time staying in the outer banks, loved driving to the different light houses which there not far, one is 5 minutes from the house. Beaches are Beautiful, abundance of Wildlife, we saw Whales jumping just off shore, many porpoises and birds... The piers are right down the street, we went and ate on the pier and there is a bar and live music on the pier which was Great, Wonderful people! We Live in Western Carolina and love small town hospitality and we got it in the Outer Banks, so we were at home being there.
