In July, with temps at 100^, it was TOO HOT for this tour. The trolley has no A/C and does not go fast enough to create a breeze. But our guide made it very interesting and I would recommend it during decent weather. Staff was helpful and displayed concern about our group suffering in the heat.

This was a well done tour. New Bern is so quaint and historic it was nice to learn some of the particulars about the old structures and city history. Guide had a great delivery and length of tour was just right. Anyone visiting should consider this trolley tour to gain a full appreciation for just how special this community is.

This trolley ride was the highlight of our visit to New Bern. Our guide was knowledgeable, witty and very eager to meet our needs as a group. When first boarding we were all asked what we wanted to enjoy and then the trip seemed to be tailored to those wishes.

The town is lovely and we learned a great deal about the history without it being a dry recitation but rather the town's history came alive. We had several stops along the way but no places for water or rest rooms - it is an hour and half long. One that I would recommend to visitors.

The hour and a half trolley tour (ours conducted marvelously by Paul Gaston White) is an excellent introduction to important local figures in the New Bern area. The tour does not really provide a summary history of New Bern although several noteworthy facts are certainly mentioned in passing. Using historical homes as the framework, the tour discusses the important owners, their relationship to each other and their impact in the community during their time. The time period involved is primarily post-colonial through the civil war. In addition, appropriate attention is given to Caleb Bradham and “Brad’s Drink” - now known as Pepsi-Cola. (As a housekeeping matter, while bathroom facilities are located where the tour begins at the Waystation in front of Tryon Palace, I saw none available on the tour.)

We opted for the Trolley tour upon arriving in New Bern. Our guide/guides were very knowledgeable and we felt we learned a great deal about the history of this beautiful town. We were lucky that some rain passed & the guide was able to roll up the plastic window covering. The weather was perfect, not too hot or cold. I'm not sure how much we would've loved paying for 90 minutes in hot/humid weather, but again, we are very glad we took the tour! I do feel $15 per person is a bit high, but it seemed that everything in New Bern cost $15!! I believe the trolley runs twice a day & meets on a street corner, so be sure to call unless you're staying somewhere that can point you in the right direction.
