“Early morning on the pier”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

My grandson and I walked out to the end of the pier after walking on the beach. It is a long pier with accommodations for all kinds of fishing. It is a very popular spot for King Mackerel fishing. The pier is privately owned and has a store with supplies for various activities. The man at the counter was very helpful and friendly.

Lot of fishing going on from this one, for the most part the fishermen are nice and are in check around small children , the pier could use some updating on some weathered area 's, good views from the pier

“a short pier is a short pier”
Reviewed 16 August 2013

This is the typical pier - old, weathered & wooden - and shorter than most. For the life of me, I cannot understand the management which charges a dollar to walk on the pier. Many fisherman like to walk the pier to check the fishing success when planning activities - charging them a dollar just reduces use and business, not to mention ill-will. My grandchildren (5) would have to pay 5 bucks just to check on grandpa if they wanted to come together. In addition, the management empties all coolers of beer when you arrive so you buy their beer - ok, I understand business - but on Sundays they sell no beer until 1pm so why do we not have the option to bring our own instead of letting it skunk in the hot car in the parking lot. NEVER AGAIN - after over 50 years of patronage!

“friendly people on the pier”
Reviewed 9 August 2013

It's worth the $1 to have access to the pier for a day. It was fun watching the fishermen (and women), especially when the were reeling in a catch. It was peaceful sitting on a bench taking in the ocean breeze. A must if you are visiting Oak Island!
