I enjoy good Jamaican food and the normally accommodating Jamaican hospitality. This offered a bit of both but just sort of missed the mark across the board. We had friends who insisted we dine at Sugar Shack while in the area and warned we would have a wait but it would be worth it. Well, we did have a wait. We arrived just after 5pm and were told it would be 45 minutes but at 7pm we were still waiting. When my husband inquired if it would be much longer the manager sort of snapped at him. We retreated back to our little corner and continued to wait in silence, he seemed to have sort of a soup Nazi attitude. I know that there were apparent locals who were seated before us even though they arrived much later and to a degree I understand that, but don't tell me 45 minutes and keep me waiting over 2 hours. The food was good but not to die for and may have been better if I had not waited so long. My husband's pork dish was on the dry, somewhat tough side. My veggie dish was good but I have had better. I would consider going again to try other dishes but only out of season and perhaps with a stash snacks. Actually, I would never wait that long again and would not entertain the idea of returning had our server had not been so gracious. The food was certainly an eclectic mix, tasty, service once seated was fine but the wait and rudeness of management was a real draw back. Maybe he had had a really bad day so I guess we will try it this fall when we return. I am hesitant to recommend it, just use your own judgement and EXPECT A LONG WAIT.
