“Great Cats not so great”
Reviewed 25 October 2010

This complex now contains 4 Great Cats courses, soon to be a 5th. Lions Paw, Leopards Chase, Panthers Run and Tigers Eye. Lions Paw is an average course, with not a lot of challenge, and is in mediocre condition in October of 2010. Rough length was deep with cutting taking place leaving mounding of cut grass as well as overseeding.

Panthers Run was the best of the 4 courses, condition wise, though is still not a huge challenge. Fun for a group though, and in pretty good shape in October 2010.

Tigers Eye has potential to be the best course of the 4, just needs a little TLC. It was not overseeded, nor was it aerated, so the greens here were the best. Scenic and challenging, it was the course we enjoyed most. It could easily surpass Panthers Run with a little TLC.

Leopards Chase was rated the highest in the reviews I read, but was in the worst shape. Greens had to be re-sodded, greens had large bald spots, sand piles, diseases, fairways and rough are in mediocre shape, clubhouse is still a trailer. This course, even though winning a new course award in 2006, was not worth the $27 replay fee, which is saying it is poor at best.

“Looks like great community but couple poor golf courses”
Reviewed 6 April 2010

Our group played Lions paw, panthers run and Tigers eye. Panthers had very poor greens and course was not in very good shape. Lions was very wet but greens were better. Enjoyed tigers. had played all three a couple years ago and looks like they all have not had any investment in that time so going downhill

“Ocean Ridge Plantation”
Reviewed 27 October 2009

My friends and I played a few rounds of golf at Ocean Ridge Plantation; the Lion's Paw and Tiger's Eye courses to be specific. These are top notch golf courses. The courses were in great condition, the staff was friendly and helpful, the bar and snack bar were well stocked, and the weather in October was excellent. I especially liked that the beverage/snack cart came around frequently.

“So - so experience”
Reviewed 12 August 2009

Played three of the courses this week - Lions, Panthers, and Tigers. Lions Paw greens were BAD - don't play here. Panthers Run were fair, not worth playing either. Tigers Eye was OK and the course was in OK shape.
Pro shop staff were the rudest (except Maddy) we've met in the area in quite a while. Our group (8 to 12) will likely not return here in the future.
Play Rivers Edge in Shallotte for a great golf course. Also, Lockwood Folly near Holden Beach - very friendly and a challenging track.

“Great golf and amenities”
Reviewed 29 November 2002

Ocean Ridge Plantation has three beautiful, challenging courses (The Big Cats) and they are building a fourth course now. Loved the golf. There are two clubhouses and the food and service in both are excellent. The blackened chicken sandwich was top rate. The fish there is FRESH. Well stocked clubhouses, with apparel and clubs.

The courses are very scenic and relaxing. Easy access on Highway 17 to Myrtle Beach or Wilmington. Great location.

People were very friendly and accommodating. Everything was very clean.
