Owner description: Teach's Hole Blackbeard Exhibit is a unique attraction devoted to all things "piratical." Since 1992, the exhibit and its pirate specialty shop have been a favorite destination for families visiting Ocracoke Island. The exhibit features a life-like recreation of Blackbeard, a weapons display, old bottles, original art, a pirate flag display, ship models, and interactive activities. As visitors leave the exhibit, they enter a one of a kind pirate specialty shop. Kids of all ages will enjoy Teach’s Hole!

“Outstanding shop and museum...!!!”
Reviewed 29 November 2013

We have been going to Ocracoke Island several years now...Teach's Hole is my favorite place on the Island. It has a great selection of various Pirate items to choose from. Definitely worth visiting on your next vacation. The museum was very informative and interesting. It told the whole story about Blackbeard and his travels. Mickey and George are extremely nice and helpful and make you feel welcome to the area. They always take the time to help you with your questions. Make sure you stop by and visit Teach's Hole on your next visit to Ocracoke Island. Highly recommended for all Blackbeard fans.

“Website wrong”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

The website had the wrong dates for when his exhibit was open. Extremely frustrating. That's all I can really comment on since it was closed.

“Tourist trap”
Reviewed 20 September 2013

Very small and limited in scope. quite a disappointment. Not really worth a stop if you have a choice of other things to see in the island. However, considering how Blackbeard made his reputation it is quite fitting that they are still using him and his legacy to take money from the tourists.

“Cool to see”
Reviewed 16 September 2013 via mobile

If you want pirate t-shirts, flags, stiff in general, so here. The pirate exhibit is small but it covers a lot of Blackbeard history, especially related to Ocracoke. If you have small kids that enjoy the Judy Moody book series, they have a book there in the series that is especially written by the author about Ocracoke and a pirate adventure, my daughter loved it.

“Not worth spending your money here!”
Reviewed 15 September 2013

The museum is small and it looks like it was put together by middle schoolers. The gift shop is probably bigger than the museum and full of cheap pirate junk. It's a total tourist trap. The staff is also not very nice. Spend your money elsewhere on the island.
