Finding a registered historic building on the Outer Banks is quite rare and always worth a visit, especially for history buffs. Albert Styron's remains a must-see destination as it has for generations (my grandmother always made us stop & visit). The shop is primarily a soda shop these days but also stocks a few gifts & t-shirts w/ clever, store related designs. It's great to see the building being well maintained & is still in the family. So, if you appreciate cultural preservation and are thirsty, do yourself a favor & stop in @ Styron's... Just don't ask for directions to the lighthouse ~ which is 1 block beyond store (an inside joke).
