This is a special place from start to finish. George is so caring and knowledgeable about the area. He took care of all our booking needs and helped us with the ferry schedule. The facility is just beautiful, located right on the water and all set up to watch the sunset. Unfortunately for us we only booked one night on a road trip to Florida. If possible book the cottage. It is a two bedroom facility with living room, kitchen and drop dead views right outside every door.
Karen was there to greet us upon our arrival and to explain every detail and give expert advice about the local restaurants.
The Outer Banks and Ocracoke in particular are very special places to visit. I am somewhat reluctant to share this hidden gem. It was even more beautiful in February with very few people around. Truly it was a perfect time to visit.

Room Tip: Book the cottage if possible. It is a two bedroom unit with views from every room.

This was my second stay at Captain's Landing. We love the ambiance, proximity to everything, and certainly the staff. The staff can't do enough to make ones stay more pleasant. This is our place of choice with the beautiful view of Silver Lake.

We spent a fantastic long Thanksgiving weekend on Ocracoke Island and chose Captain's Landing for lodging. We investigated this hotel last April for my parents who stayed three nights in May. They loved Captain's Landing, and we couldn't agree more. The owners, George and Betty, are delightful and very helpful. They and their staff took pains to call us in Norfolk to make sure that we would know which restaurants on the island would be serving Thanksgiving Dinner. The office staff and all housekeeping workers were very friendly and quick to address any needs or questions. The Captain's Landing is in a perfect location for getting to restaurants, shopping, etc. Our suite sat right on top of Silver Lake and afforded us a wonderful view of the sunset over the Ocracoke Lighthouse. We used the kitchen extensively and it was well stocked with pots, pans, microwave, stove, oven, full sized refrigerator, etc. Our suite had balcony access from the living area as well as the bedroom. The suite was extremely clean. We've been coming to Ocracoke for seven years during Spring Break and will definitely be making Thanksgiving a new Ocracoke tradition at Captain's Landing.

Room Tip: There are eight regular suites, but if you have a larger party, the adjacent cabin or third floor pe...

This place is absolutely wonderful. The owners are so friendly and helpful and the suites are so clean and beautifully located on Silver Lake, equipped with a waterfront view - perfect for watching the sunset. I planned a short 2 night trip to Ocracoke for my boyfriend's birthday and this place was perfect. Quiet, romantic and just what we were hoping for. We will be going back and staying at The Captain's Landing again for sure.

Room Tip: We stayed in a suite that was perfect for the 2 of us but they also have cottages for rent which wou...

We spend 6 hours to get to Captain's Landing and have come every year for about 8 years. Sometimes twice a year. The large decks are covered and you can eat all of your meals overlooking Silver Lake in nice weather. The private dock is right on the water with comfortable chairs to watch the boats go by. We use the boat slips for our boat in the summer. Everything in the village is within walking distance.....shops, restaurants, excursions. There are bikes and golf carts to rent. You can see the lighthouse come on from any unit in the evening. The beach is just a few minutes car ride away. The units are always clean. We love Captain's Landing and the friendly owners do everything they can to assure you are having a comfortable stay.

Room Tip: We love to stay upstairs for the view.

When you have to drive 2 hours along the outer banks and then take a ferry for another 45 minutes, you want to be somewhere special. Ocracoke Island is a wonderful little town where you can walk to shops and restaurants from your hotel. We stayed a the Captain's Landing overlooking the bay, the ships in harbor and the glorious sunset from a large balcony outside our
one bedroom rental. The staff was very friendly and helpful in telling us about shops , the 3 best restaurants and the sites. You could walk to the ocean beaches but if you want seclusion, you can drive along the miles and miles of shoreline and stop where you want. If you want to avoid the crowds, go offseason , as we did.

Room Tip: choose a balcony room away from the cabins.
