Perfect getaway spot -- sit on the deck and watch the goldfinches, indigo buntings, and fireflies or take an easy hike (really more of a stroll) to Point Overlook with its splendid views of Royal Gorge. Do be sure to print the detailed directions to the inn you'll receive with your confirmation email -- we had no difficulty finding our way using them.
We stayed in the Lake View Room and enjoyed sitting on our private screen porch with a cup of coffee in the morning and a glass of wine at night. Our king bed was very comfy, and the room was large and tastefully decorated. Innkeepers are happy to help with area information and reservations. (Have dinner at Que Sera if at all possible!)
Breakfasts were so hearty you won't need much (if any) lunch, and we were delighted to find oatmeal-chocolate chip cookies in the cookie jar when we returned late one night! Had we encountered rainy weather or stayed longer, we might have taken advantage of the DVD, board game, and book library or the guest refrigerator stocked with water & sodas.
