This Valentine's Day was our second stay in the Pilot Knob Suite which has a private outdoor hot tub, housed behind a wall made of acrylic blocks. The blocks actually make up the entire exterior wall of this suite, which is really cool. Its much more my taste than tobacco barns, which my husband loves, but I find sort of creepy.
The room isn't cheap, but its worth it: easy check in/out, privacy, unbelievably friendly staff & amazing breakfast, which would cost around $20 per person at a restaurant. My only complaint is the shared wall in our suite did not filter the tv noise from next door, but there's wifi, so I just threw on Pandora - easy solution.
They have a secluded lake with free canoeing, which was a fun activity. We hiked to the "swinging bridge" which was not as impressive as it sounded.
This is located on the Yadkin Valley wine trail, so there's tons of vineyards nearby offering tastings, tours and good eats. There's also 2 state parks with waterfalls & rock climbing.
All ingredients are here for a perfect getaway. We found it to be pretty magical both times we stayed. Hopefully we can go for round 3 really soon.
