This is a wonderful collection of flora and fauna from many areas of the world with an emphasis on the Carolinas. There are a wide variety of hollies and azaleas that provide a dazzling display of color in the Springtime, a wonderful Old English garden, a Japanese garden and some outstanding statuary. I believe the garden is maintained by the horticultural students at Sandhills Community College, which is adjacent to the garden.

If you are tired of golf, or are a non-golfing partner, this is a wonderful place to visit. I always take houseguests here, regardless of the time of year. It is never crowded....you almost believe that it is your garden. At the far end there is a platform looking out over the lake...a great place to sit and have a sandwich and listen to the birds.
Drive in to the Horticultural Center driveway (after the main driveways to the college and its parking lots) and park....there is a lovely path leading down to the gardens behind the Horticultural Center.

If you appreciate flora, go to the Sandhills Horticultural Gardens, located at the Sandhills Community College. Walk through the gardens and enjoy the flowers, trees, shrubs, etc. that surround you. Peaceful and relaxing time well spent.

We just came home from a golf vacation in pinehurst. The gardens were near the golf course we were going to play so we walked about for a while. What a great place, I was amazed at the size. It sure is worth the time to take a look see. Would have been better had I a picnic along, there are places to sit and enjoy.

This delightful garden is run by the local Sandhills Community College preparing students for a landscape gardening degree. The grounds are well laid out with multiple themes running through it from Asian to a formal English garden. We visited in early spring, when much of the flowering plants were just starting to bloom. The children's garden was very well done as well as the vegetable, fruit trees and vines. It is a quite contemplative place, good for the soul.
