Owner description: Waterfall slide, sending 11,000 gallons of water down a huge rock each minute.

We arrived mid/late afternoon on a weekday and it was busy with the parking lot nearly full. Still one dollar per person. Though the long line to slide might deter you, it goes fast. The attendants keep things going like an assembly line and it's fun to people watch as you wait.
Warning: you might get some water up the nose or swallow some if not careful! Don't pass it up. It's about the best dollar you'll spend these days.

Sliding Rock is 50 minutes SW of Asheville and currently costs $1/person (might soon go up to $2/person) for a unique and natural waterslide, with lifeguards. Weekdays are less crowded than weekends; mornings are less crowded than afternoons. If you can stay for a full day in the area, also check out DuPont State Park (15 miles South) for 3 very nice waterfalls and some good Summer swimming, no lifeguards. Get directions in advance, as the signage for DuPont is not so good.

We had a great time visiting the sliding rock. A must see unique attraction in Western Carolina. For $1.00 per person, it can't be beat. We went on Thursday mid-day and the line for the sliding rock was only 5 minutes. The kids and adults did it as often as they wanted. We heard stories of hour long waits on the weekend. Looking glass falls right up the road is also a MUST see attraction. One one the best things about both of these attractions is there NO HIKE to get to the falls or sliding rock. You park, and you are there. Very cool for everyone. Lots of great hikes in the forest, picnic areas too. You'll love it.

Lots of fun for the kids. Nature's most exciting, and exhilarating attraction.

Going to Sliding Glass Rock was one of my best childhood memories. I was looking it up again to take my children and can't wait to see their face when they hit that cold water!! I also remember enjoying the pool of water at the bottom with other children! More childhood memories in our future!
