“Awesome! A MUST DO... AMAZING!”

Cost is $1 person....it's SOOO worth it! This is a Must DO...amazing Sliding Rock. A Real Rock w/ a oh so very cold stream running down it. I took my 6yr old daughter and 9 yr old son...Love it! You will have to scream cuz it's positively exhilarating! The water's got to be 50 degrees but it was an awesome experience! Also just down the road is waterful that you can swim in and go under...also cold but really cool experience..don't remember what it's called but it's just down the road maybe a few miles if that.

“Sliding Rock is the Most fun.......”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2011

Our family of five (mom, dad, 15 yr old, 10 yr old twin boys) stayed in Waynesville NC for the week and visited several places. Had an awesome time at Sliding Rock. I was so surprised to find that it is exactly that....a big rock to sit on and slide down. My kids absolutely loved it as did my 48 year old husband. We got there when the lifeguards came on duty, i believe that was 10:00. The line was extrememly short and we were able to get right on and start the sliding. After about an hour though, the line started getting very long as that is when church and school buses were coming in with kids. The water was pretty cold ...around 50 degrees but that didn't stop my family. We went over and over and over. I mostly watched from the platform which is a great place to stand as you can get some great "head on" pictures of your family members coming down the rock. We stayed for about two hours. The kids loved it so much we went back the next day and did it all over again. Definitely a great, cheap (only 1.00 per person and can slide all day), wonderfully fun piece of entertainment. Highly recommend it. Oh! the pool of water at the end of the rock does have one deep end. Just and FYI for littler kids. But there were people of all ages. When we went there was a elderly woman, probably in her 70;s that went down it in her regular clothes and shoes. she was loving it.

“Why Not!?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2011

Just passing through North Carolina, it was suggested that we stop at Sliding Rock, to experience a bone chilling slide down a flat rock. With three teenage boys and one younger guy, this made for a nice break between the hours of driving. We planned ahead, wore our t-shirts & shorts/bathing suits in the car and had a couple of towels handy. There is a formation of rocks in a river/stream that are very smooth, allow you to walk up, sit down and slide down the rocks, landing in a decent size, pool of water. It's 10:30 a.m. on a Saturday and there was a line! OK, well it was my son and my turn, in no time. Lifeguards move it along and make sure you don't slip and fall. "WHOA!! That water's COLD!" "Weeeeeee!!!" Short but fun. Back in line, we went and once we had enough there were bathrooms and changing stalls.

It was neat. Pretty cool. WOW Factor, not really. However, what the heck! It was fun.

“An exhilarating, refreshing rush of excitement”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2011

This is an attraction well worth the drive and so affordable as family fun. Only $1.00 per person, all day-parking included! If you visit after 5:30pm, it is free to get in and not so busy. However, after 5:30pm there are no lifeguards (some slider's become a little more daring) available and washroom/changeroom facilities are closed. Take water shoes if you have them, the walk down to where the line forms is wet and muddy under foot and walking through the creek can be slippery and sharp. The lineup moves quick enough and it is enjoyable to watch other slider's slide down the rock as you wait your turn. The first time down and in the water is certainly refreshing, however, after that, it feels much better. Sliding rock is fun for all ages and is great for active seniors too. Those we saw seemed to really be enjoying the plunge. You must know how to swim. Definitely will become an annual stop during our vacation time. Simply put- FANTASTIC FUN and you won't want to leave!!!
