“Excellent room”
Reviewed 4 January 2014

The room quality was very good, check in staff was very fast although I had to ask for direction of room as it was in an attached building. Breakfast food was average, typical hot breakfast you get in many locations, waffles, omelets, sausage. The price of the suite was excellent. I hope that comment doesn't get Hampton over confident and start charging more.

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel again since we liked it so much the first time we stayed here. the location is extremely easy to get to when coming from out of town and it is very convenient to many dining and shopping options. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, the rooms are very clean and comfortable and the free breakfast is quite enjoyable. The aspect I liked best is that the hotel is pet friendly and for any animals lovers out there, there really is something to be said about seeing several dogs coming and going with their owners during our recent stay. That alone gives the hotel a VERY warm and friendly feeling. We will definitely be making this our "go to hotel" when we come back to the area again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back side of the hotel may have more of the train noise being heard when the trains com...

The rooms were nice and the hotel is newly renovated and looks great! The breakfast is expansive with eggs and potatoes and fresh build your own oatmeal. There is a large amount of seating in the large but still quaint feeling lobby. The hotel is very close to PNC arena.

We stayed here this past Friday, to see family and a Canes game...

We arrived and were greeted nicely by Chris at the front desk...

Found out that the hotel is under a slight refribushment at this time, the 6th floor is just about completed and they are working their way down the floors (per what the worker said)...never saw or heard anything but a portion of the front side parking lot was closed with big container's, so you could tell they were doing something...

Though there is no mention of any sort of work being done at the hotel...

We were given a room on the 1st floor (since I was with kids) and the room seemed appropriate and comfortable..it wasn't until that night when I turned on the tv, that there was no picture on the tv, after looking and unplugging and replugging in, I noticed a cable was missing, I alerted front desk but there were no rooms to change since they were sold out..not a real big deal, but thought that rooms would be checked properly before being put into inventory..

Staff throughout hotel were very friendly and nice, and directions to restaurants were given out nicely and effieciently...

Breakfast the next morning was greeted by hostess and food was the normal waffles, hot item and cereals etc...

Hotel is located off of Exit 290 off of I-40...no real restaurants around, so you'll need to have a car to get to chain restaurants and malls..

There is a gas station right next to property..and PNC Arena, is less then a 5 minute drive away, Crabtree is around 10-15 minutes...

Will return again but make sure tv works first next time...

Room Tip: Rooms with even numbers face the parking lot, odd numbers face out at the woods....

Stayed at this hotel to go to a Hockey game at the PNC Arena. Nice hotel, very clean and comfrotable rooms and easy access to the Arena. Getting back to the hotel can be confusing, the Arena parking will take you out to I-40 and you will have to double back, but it was still a nice centrally located hotel.

After cutting our stay short at this particular Hampton Inn, I felt the need to write a review. First off, we usually always try to stay at Hampton Inns because generally they are a good value for the money, clean, updated and well appointed. While this Hampton Inn has a beautiful large, spacious lobby and the staff there couldn't have been nicer (as usually is the case) the rooms are showing their age, and the noise from the heater cutting off and on was so loud that it woke my husband and I both up several times throughout the night, not to mention the noisy mini-fridge made sounds continuously. As if that wasn't bad enough, a train passed by the back of the hotel three times while we were there! Also to make visitors aware... this is a pet friendly hotel. (Nothing wrong with that.) With that said, since we have allergies to pet hair we requested a higher up floor which was honored. However we saw numerous dogs (some large ones too) that were going in and out of the main entrance throughout the evening and even the next morning during the breakfast hours and were allowed to walk throughout the lobby and breakfast buffet area. This particular Hampton has several entrances, so it might be better for all concerned to ask the people with dogs to use one of those so as not to infringe on other guests.... just a thought.

This is a great hotel with lots of features to make your stay comfortable. Very easy to get to from the highway with a gas station/convenience store right next door. This hotel is right down the road from a huge mall and lots of restaurants. The lobby is attractively decorated with separate areas for working and relaxing. Friendly staff help you feel welcome. The work-out room is on the small side and there’s only one of each type of equipment – bicycle, treadmill, stair-stepper, and workout apparatus – but they’re top quality. The smallish pool is outdoors by a very large patio, which features a TV, lots of cushioned chairs and at least one large grill. Would be very nice for informal gatherings in warm weather. The breakfast buffet was the usual fare but there was a lot of it and everything was fresh and tasty. There’s a huge grassy area across from the front lobby for dog walking, if you bring your furry friend. A secondary entrance in front leads right to the elevators, so you don’t have to trek through the lobby every time Rover needs to go for a stroll.

We rented the king suite with whirlpool tub, as we had our teenage granddaughter with us. The suite was spacious, bright, and homey – loved the recliner in the living room and blue accent wall behind the bed. The kitchen with full refrigerator, two-burner stove, sink, toaster, dishes and flatware for four made fixing a snack or simple meal easy enough, although it was lacking most of the basic utensils (we always bring our own). Nice granite countertop with room for three to eat comfortably (use the desk chair for the third person). Plenty of outlets around the room. Lots of good lighting. Everything was super clean and smelled fresh, which is amazing considering this is a pet-friendly hotel. And the bathroom was huge, especially that whirlpool tub. Good lighting and plenty of counter space in the bathroom, too. The terry robes were a nice touch. Our suite (#400) was on the fourth floor, overlooking some woods – very nice to leave the drapes open during the day and see trees instead of pavement or buildings.

So it sounds nearly perfect and we really did have a relaxing time. But, I travel a lot and am always looking for those little (or not-so-little) things that can mean the difference between an OK stay and a great vacation. Here are the caveats: Peace and quiet? Only intermittently. We live directly under the flight path of a major airport, so ambient noise is something we take in stride. But the appliances in this room were more distracting than any plane that passes over our home. There was the loud hum from the refrigerator, the incredible grinding sound of the disposal (even when there was only soft food in it), the noise from the whirlpool jets like a rocket ship taking off, the blasting of hot air from the heater, topped off by the occasional rumble of a passing train. When none of the appliances was active, it was very quiet, but when they were doing their jobs it was very distracting.

Then there’s the glass-block wall between the bathroom and hallway. Nice touch, until our granddaughter wanted to use the whirlpool tub and my husband had to leave the room while she was in there (the tub faces the glass wall). And the sofa bed! It wasn't so much a bed as a collection of very saggy, sharp springs covered with a thin, old, lumpy bit of fabric. We were amazed that our granddaughter was able to sleep on it at all. I couldn’t even sit on it without feeling every spring poking me. And the linens looked like they hadn’t been changed in quite a while. The bed in the bedroom was comfortable enough and it was nice having a real door to close between the sleeping and living spaces. There were lots of drawers for clothes (6 in the bedroom and 4 in the living room), but only one tiny closet. Separate shower (good), but the size of a phone booth with no ledge for your toiletries, so they have to sit on the floor and that’s a problem when you have to bend down to get them, unless you enjoy the feeling of cold tile against your skin (you get the picture). No towel bars near the shower. And none of the four electrical outlets in the bathroom worked. Had to dry our hair out in the living room.
Would I recommend the Hampton Inn in Cary? Yes, if you don’t mind intermittent appliance noises and aren’t too scrupulous about your bathroom privacy. No, if you expect to use the pull-out couch for sleeping. Oh, and our dog loved it!

Room Tip: Room 400 faces some woods, so you can leave the drapes open - lovely view
