Owner description: Richard Stanhope Pullen founded Pullen Park on March 22, 1887. Once farmland, Mr. Pullen donated the land as a gift to the City of Raleigh to be used as parkland. He characterized it as on old cow pasture, red and rocky. He intended this land to be used for the recreation use and pleasure of the inhabitants and the visitors to the City of Raleigh. Through his visions, Pullen Park became the first public park in North Carolina.

This is a great place to go during the week or on a weekend! It is a wonderful time for little children to run around and enjoy the park. We go quite frequently to this park and we always wear out our little one in the process. I used to go here as a child and it is wonderful to see that they have updated it and kept it looking new and fresh. They have a carousel that they recently enclosed and a train that goes around the entire park. You pay a dollar a ticket and it is well worth it. There are lots of areas to walk around, different play areas, paddle boats, it has a lot of options for the entire family. We love this park and enjoy every inch of it. If you are in the Raleigh area and are looking for a park for your little ones this is the place to go. You will not forget it or regret this wonderful gem.

Loved that there were activities available to all age groups of children and adults. Didn't like the lack of communication with booking agent. We were told that there were no other parties behind our shelter reservation and would be permitted to stay longer than the allotted time. However, another party showed up before we were packed and ready to go.

We went expecting a little lark with a carousel. We got so much more than we expected, there is a train and paddle boats also. Really well kept and looks newly renovated. Nice place.

I spent an entire day here with my daughter and 19 month old grandson. He had an absolute blast. Highly recommend that you arrive early as parking can be a bit of a bear on the weekends.

There is a lot to do here and it is all free. We have a six year old wild boy and he got all of his pent up energy out at Pullen Park. We were visiting Raleigh for a day and we came here to unwind. There is an excellent playground with lots to climb on. We rode the train, merry go round and we rode in the paddle boats (a lot of work!). Park is very clean.
