Pullen Park is a hidden treasure! It has the normal playground equipment - swings, slides, etc. - plus an historic Carousel, little person train, and peddle boats on a lake! Lots of outdoor, imaginative fun. We last went with grand children and they loved it. Lots of photo ops and special moments. You can spend 2-6 hours here, easily, depending upon the children's ages and interests. Tickets are needed for the Carousel, train, and some other rides, but they are VERY reasonably priced. I agree with the recommendation to get there early, because parking can be a challenge. Also, in NC's extremely hot and humid summers, the heat (outside of the air conditioned Carousel building!) an be oppressive, so water is a must.

Family in from out of town and we were looking for someplace that a 3-year old would enjoy. After reading the great reviews for Pullen Park,we decided to give it a try. Each of us was amazed at the cleanliness of the entire park. All equipment was of good quality and well maintained. Although we did not picnic, there were numerous areas for such, and all appeared to also be well cleaned and maintained. The train and merry-go-round were special thrills which even the adults enjoyed. Also, Flat Stanley went along!
Living just north of Raleigh, Pullen Park is not close by, but it was well worth the drive. I would do it again, and will when more family visits.

We have been going to Pullen Park for years, since my 8-yr old was 2. The new enhancements and improvements are wonderful - they gave some much-needed TLC to the older rides and added lots of play equipment. For only $1 per person per ride, this park is accessible to all income levels. I am so happy to have it in Raleigh!

We have visited Pullen Park on a number of occasions and at differing times of year. Each visit has been more than pleasant. Our most recent was in October of this year. We picked our visiting children and grandchildren up at the Airport after a long flight and decided that, before we set out for home (another long drive), we'd stop at Pullen Park and give the little ones (3 & 5) a chance to run around and let off some steam...which they did! We all enjoyed a ride on the train and the 'munchkins' loved the carousel; a hike around the lake topped things off.
This place is really a treasure - accessible and affordable, and very conveniently located.

The park is situated between NC State university and the retired School for the deaf. As part of a grand vision of development, the area was kept free of residential buildings. Key amenities include a nice little trail walking trail, several large covered meeting spaces, a miniature railroad, numerous paddle boats on the pond, and merry-go-round.

The park is best seen when timing your visit with the foliage. Time your visit for the fall or spring, or early in morning after the rare winter snow. Children and grandparents, young lovers, and photographers may be the most interested in giving this park a whirl.

Nice if you live in the area, but pass if you are from out of town.
