“Double check the hours first”
Reviewed 16 February 2013 via mobile

Good, fresh sushi. Knowledgable staff willing to help make selections. I like to go early before the crowd comes. Double check the hours; in typical Raleigh fashion this place is closed between lunch and dinner and also a day or two during the week. I stick to the sashimi platters and skip most of the rolls.

“Outstanding Fish in the Nigiri”
Reviewed 25 January 2013

We went to Waraji at 7:30 PM on a Sunday night in January, so it was relatively quiet. I go to Japan once or twice per year and have sushi near or at the Tsukiji market on every trip, so I feel that I know about fresh fish and good sushi. I ordered 4 types of Nigiri style sushi, and every one was outstanding - among the best I have had in the U.S. - wonderful, firm, fresh fish, excellently cut and served in generous portions. My wife ordered the pork Katsu, and it was excellent, and again a very generous portion. We also had an appetizer of tempura that was very good. Order you favorite Japanese beer to go with it. Excellent and friendly service wrapped up the package. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves authentic Japanese food.

“we eat here weekly”
Reviewed 28 December 2012

This is the best sushi in Raleigh, no doubt. It gets pretty full around 7, so make sure you come early. Lots of Japanese people come here, so that also tells you something.

Outstanding restaurant.

“Best sushi in the area”
Reviewed 11 December 2012

We have been going to Waraji for many years. Their sushi is consistently the best and freshest in town, and we have been to many sushi restaurants. For meat eaters, their sukiyaki is great too.

“Best Sushi in Town- Has been and continues to be!”
Reviewed 23 November 2012

IT's just the best. Try it and you will never want to eat sushi anywhere else. Have been going there since it opened, began eating sushi with Masa 25 years ago when he worked at Kanki. Try the honeymoon roll and a salmon-skin hand roll. Best ever spider rolls. Everything is good.
