“Very expensive Birthday treat for the office!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 December 2012

Have been meaning to review this for a few months so here goes - 2 birthdays in one week at work so boss took us to The Moors for coffee and cake. The place had only just re-opened after change of ownership and we wanted to try it out. They didn't 'do' cake but when we explained how disappointed we were the waitress asked in the kitchen and came back to tell us that they could do a chocolate brownie. When it came it arrived as a dessert with icecream and very small amount of fresh fruit. The place had no atmosphere at all and they clearly did not want coffee customers not purchasing a meal. The waitress was friendly enough but we were not made welcome, the cost of 4 coffees and 4 'pieces of cake' was extremely expensive and boss and two other colleagues would not go back. I have been back twice since but wouldn't go again, the place has not had any atmosphere on all trips, food good once but not the second time for dinner. staff usually friendly expect for one of the owners who never seems to have a smile on his face!

“Excellent food and value for money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 December 2012

Looks like the new management have cracked the problem of a previously dismal place by changing the chef rather than the décor.. Nicely served food with good portion size and no faffing about. Well worth a visit and I don't think you will be disappointed. The best restaurant in Pangbourne by far, well as good as the Peking Garden if it is to be compared at all with what is probably Berkshire's best chinky...

“Food good, service good, ambiance good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 November 2012

Stopped here for lunch as our usual pub was closed. The menu had some contrasting styles (eg. Thai and Toulouse sausage) which makes it good for variable tastes. We had Thai curry, toulouse sausage and special lasagne (avocado). All good with individual tastes, except for the lasagne which was a bit experimental and ended up as some limp avocado topped with thick rubbery cheese, but I would not want to overly cricitise imagination, even when it is a bit off the mark. Deserts were very nice, if a bit small.
Service good and friendly, but a round of coffee was forgotten. I liked the way that the chef was continually scoping the place to make sure he was on top of things.
The dining room is nicely furnished, if a bit small and crowded, though I realise that is hardly the restaurants fault. It does feel more like a coffee shop with people popping in for a quick cake/coffee rather than a leisurely lunch eating place. I would like to see the place a bit bigger.
PS Good news. The Peroni is on tap!

“Perfect chilled out brunch with the Papers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2012

Had such a relaxing time on Saturday- read the papers in peace with gorgeous smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and toast- would probably ask for salmon to be heated up with the eggs next time but just a personal preference. Great atmosphere and really great coffee!

“Another fab visit”

Another fab breakfast with friendly banter and staff. Good food well presented. Busy so worth booking a table.

Highly recommend and booking dinner for this weekend.
