“Great weekend at Snowbird!”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

In mid May we took a long weekend and drove from north Forida to the Snowbird Mountain Lodge north of Robinsville NC. Lovely old 1940's Inn. They have a beautiful old lobby with a real working fireplace, nice cozy bar (with gas fireplace) and big dinning room with lovely glass enclosed porch area, nice view for dinner. Our cabin was one of 2 Wolf cabins . We liked it because it was one of two on the far side of the Lodge. Loved our room! remote control fireplace ,pretty funny, but nice cause it was cool at night. Big bathroom with jaccuzi tub and our own hot tub on our private porch...really nice.

The staff was great, very helpful, accomodating. They russeled us up some breakfast early so we could eat and go trout fishing with a great fishing guilde the Lodge owner had recommended. We now know how to fly fish!

The grounds were very lovely, lots of native plants, great walking trails, we loved the screened in summerhouse with the big fire pit in the middle, very cozy and accomodating.

The food was very good. Very interesting items, fantastic trout, interesting new menu each night. Very nice breakfast, The only thing that could use improvement was the picnic lunch. It was okay, but not as interesting as the other meals. Although we certainly appreciated them making it for our outings, because there is no where up in the mountains to eat. Only thing was Robbinsville about 12 miles down the mountain and nothing there but fastfood.

The owner was very knowledgable, had lots of are maps, recommened a great fishing guide and we loved chatting with him. All the staff was great, desk and retaurant, everyone did a great job. We loved our stay and would recomment it to anyone. I especially like the big dogs lopping around and greeting you when you arrived, lots of fun, sweet dogs.

If you want a lovely place away from the city to relax, with very nice accomdations, excellent food, nice little bar in a lovely setting...Try the Snownbird!

Room Tip: Choose on of the two wolf cabins. They are off by themselves, close to the lodge, near the summer h...

My husband and I recently spent a few days at the Snowbird mountain lodge. It was our first trip there and what a jewel it is. Our room was very comfortable and we enjoyed a hot tub on our deck. There are many hiking trials near by. The staff at the lodge was very accommodating and the food was delicious from the packed brown bag lunches to the 4 course dinners at night. The screened in porch with fire pit was a great place to relax and enjoy the view of the mountains. We certainly will plan a future trip to Snowbird.

My husband and I recently spent the weekend at Snowbird mountain lodge. As soon as you walk in the door you are made to feel like you are home. Except now you have a chef in your kitchen! The views are fantastic! The large sitting room was comfortable with a nice fire and good lighting. Did I mention the chef? All meals are included. Breakfast is hearty to prepare you for some hiking. Lunch is packed for you in a backpack. Dinner is a four course delectable treat with a large and varied wine list. Treat yourself to a visit at Snowbird. You will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: upper level mountain view at lodge

We spent a long weekend celebrating our anniversary at the Snowbird. Our room in the Chestnut Lodge addition had a beautiful view, well appointed furnishings, and a relaxing hot tub on the deck. The food at Snowbird was exceptional and the bar was well stocked. The screened porch with fire pit was a great place to spend the evening after a delicious dinner. There were numerous hiking trails in the areas surrounding the lodge, as well as several trails on the lodge property. The lodge also supplied canoes and kayaks for our enjoyment on a nearby lake.

Room Tip: We would recommend any of the rooms in the Chestnut Lodge.

Wonderful views on the property, the dining was excellent, and there were plenty of hiking trails nearby. We also brought our Harley so we could experience some of the amazing motorcycle routes that are close to the lodge (Bryson City, Fontana Dam, Dragon, etc.) We had a great weekend and will definitely return for another stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Chestnut Lodge (Oak) which has the premium rooms with a hot tub on the deck, Jacuzz...

I've been to Snowbird Mountain Lodge 10+ times. I have traveled all over and this is my most favorite place of them all. It is all-inclusive (alcohol extra, tea and coffee included) and the food is top-notch gourmet. Your stay also includes mountain bikes, canoes, fly-rods and tennis courts. You can do as much or as little as you want to. They have an extensive library and many nice places to kick back, read and relax. In the colder months, the huge fireplace always has a roaring fire. The mountain views are spectacular and it is a hiker's paradise with numerous trails nearby and a few straight from the lodge. You can chose to stay in a separate building, cabin or in the lodge itself. I love the lodge myself. A quilt on every bed is a nice touch. You will not be disappointed here! I wish I was there right now. Not a place for young kids. Children over 12 welcome.

Room Tip: All rooms are great. Corner rooms and room 17 are bigger with a small fridge, but cost a little mor...

We recently visited the area and were looking for a lunch spot before driving the Cherahola Skyway. We saw the lodge on a map and noticed that the sign at the roadway mentioned "fine dining". We traveled the long winding path to the top of the hill where we found the most quaint respite! Flowers and trees were in full bloom... birds of all kinds were enjoying the feeders. Although they only had boxed lunches available, they were individually prepared for us. We ate them at one of the many outside sitting areas overlooking the green mountain vistas. Truly spectacular. When we finished we roamed the trails to find tennis courts, and firepit and wonderful trails.

Although my husband road these roads numerous times without seeing this secluded hideaway, we were so happy to stumble into this quiet area nestled into the NC forests.
