This was our second visit to Snowbird Mountain Lodge and we enjoyed it even more that our first visit. The food was as delicious as we had remembered. We especially enjoyed the new screened in pavilion with a central gas fire pit - evenings whiled away in conversation to the sounds of cicadas Hospitality was first rate, the chef and wait staff catered to our special requests. While all the staff were friendly, professional, and courteous, Butch and Heather in the dinning room stood out to us. The rooms (we stayed in room 4 in the main lodge) were comfortable, well appointed, and cozy. Free amenities include the use of canoes, kayaks, paddle boards on nearby Lake Santeetlah. Picnic lunches were perfect for our days of hiking and water sports. For motorcyclists, the nearby Cherohala Skyway will take you into Tennessee and then you can connect with the famous Tail of the Dragon.

A welcome break from the heat and humidity of the Deep South, this lodge is the perfect escape. The staff is friendly, the food is excellent, and the place is made for relaxing. Spectacular views of layers of mountains, the temperature at this 2600 ft elevation boast highs in the 70s and low 80s and cool crisp mornings in the low 60s. Burr!!! Activities include reading, sleeping, and eating. Also, ample opportunities to hike to beautiful vistas and waterfalls or visit the Joyce Kilmer Forrest with its 400 year old virgin stand of Tulip Poplars.

Sorry to see that tripadvisor has to list Snowbird Mountain Lodge as a "bed and breakfast". Although there are beds and amazing breakfasts, it is so much more! My husband and I spent three nights here last weekend. It. Was. Wonderful. The Wolf Cottage with its view, fireplace, hot tub, and porch complete with rocking chairs was the perfect accommodation, but the food, oh my gosh, it was amazing. Great dinner menu each night. Breakfast choices were broad, delicious and always well presented. Even the bagged lunches were beyond ordinary. We both came with bum knees, so no hiking or canoeing, but we're familiar with the area and there are many outdoor activities to pursue if you are inclined to leave the beautiful grounds of Snowbird Mountain Lodge. We made reservations to go back for my husband's birthday!

Just to get-away for a quite and laid back time to decompress, snowbird lodge has been an experience we will never forget.
When you drive up the driveway and the sign says "Where the mountains meet the sky" , drive past the sign to view the glorious mountain range ..... Well, you just know you have found a unique lodge.
We had adventures, canoe, kayak, and paddle boarding, hiking , fly fishing, and more. But the best part was just sitting back to read a book.
We never went hungry, starting with a full breakfast, then a brown bag for lunch and a dinner every night . Just a relaxing feel good time every day ! Highly recommend for any one who wants to truly enjoy a stress free get away.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view!

This was our first stay at Snowbird Lodge. It was our 31st Anniversary and we plan on returning every year. They have everything you need: bikes canoes kayaks fishing poles flashlights etc. The view is unbelievable. After dinner each night we sat next to the fire and the people you meet are kind and friendly and are of all ages (most have been going to the lodge for 15 years). I wish I had found this quiet, relaxing, and beautiful place years ago. The food is some of the best I have ever eaten. It is hard to describe how you feel at the lodge. My husband turned off his phone and enjoyed his time away from the city. The Lodge was 3/4 full and we hardly ever saw more than one to two couples at a time. Spend the money and stay in the Chestnut Lodge it is worth it.

Room Tip: Go ahead any spend the money and stay in the Chestnut Lodge the hot tub and view is worth it.

My husband & I stayed two nights & couldn't stop talking about when we could come back. Snowbird is truly a special place. It's nestled in the mountains so that it feels like a part of the landscape. Multiple trails on the property will lead you to overlook points with charming benches, porch swings, and outdoor artwork along the way. "The Point" trail was our favorite - the view at the end of it is the best I've seen in a long time. And it's a 5-10 minute walk from your room. We woke up both mornings to watch the sunset from Sunset Point (worth the early rise). We hiked in the Joyce Kilmer forest nearby, where the trees are up to 450 years old, and command a sense of reverence. We paddleboarded on Lake Santeelah, and again were in awe of our surroundings. Too beautiful for words. There is plenty of hiking/white water rafting/canoeing etc. to do in the nearby area around Snowbird, but you'd be perfectly content just spending your time at the resort as well.

Truly a unique blend of solitude and activities filled experience. Great place to relax if that's all you want. Also plenty of outdoor activities available within short drives - Hikes, canoeing, kayaking, waterfalls all the good stuff. Staff gets high marks for excellent service. Fantastic mountain views especially from Sunrise Point.
