Description: While we have the only "slow-smoked barbecue" in the Rocky Mount area (featuring spareribs, pulled pork, chopped beef and sliced brisket), we also feature thick hand-cut steaks, juicy burgers, and a wide variety of "fresh" seafood. Our lasagna is homemade with fresh herbs. All of our gourmet sides (orange ginger yams, collard greens, coleslaw, potato salad are made from fresh vegetables, etc.) are made in-house from fresh vegetables -- no cans or frozen! Our macaroni & cheese has been ranked in the top 10 nationally by Travel & Leisure magazine. Our desserts are also homemade, unique and delicious. The jazz-themed restaurant, situated in the neighborhood where legendary jazz pianist Thelonious Monk was born, is the brainchild of Ed Wiley III, Yalem Kiros and Harold Worrell. Ed Wiley is the son of jazz saxophone great Ed Wiley Jr.

In town for business, my companion and I saw this place on trip advisor and decided to check it out, the atmosphere was great, the food was fairly priced, the oversized menus were charming, as was the story behind how the place came to be.it was a bit of a wait for the food to come out, but when it did, it was worth the wait! The portions were generous, and everything was delicous! We ended up having to take a whole bunch home with us, I almost wish I had to come to Rocky Mount so I can come back here

Dinner out with friends during a one-night stopover and they recommended Prime Smokehouse--which moved them even higher in our ranking of friends. A superb meal of BBQ and seafood (crab cakes and fried shrimp), topped by great service and very reasonable prices. We'll be back the next time we are in the area.

Had the pleasure of having dinner there Friday night. Atmosphere is very inviting with a friendly staff. Great bar selection including many good local brews. Menu is diverse and unique for the area at very reasonable prices. The owners, especially Ed, is truly concerned about making sure you are happy with your visit. That type of personal attention puts them in a class all their own in Rocky Mount. Don't waste your time driving to Raleigh and waiting for a dinner that is the "pits" compared to Ed's fine smoked creations.

Easily the best restaurant in Rocky Mount.

I was very impressed with the excellent service here. Our waiter was fabulous and friendly. Food was very fresh and I enjoyed the variety on the menu, which was southern but it also had a twist. I think this will become a big hit in rocky mount once the word starts spreading. Prices were very affordable too! Would return and recommend.

Looks like it can be a relaxing place to spend a Friday night.

In Rocky Mount on business and a local suggested coming here for dinner. Glad we did. Seven of us had dinner and everything was good. I had the crabcakes - almost completely crabmeat with just a bit of breading to keep it together. We had a couple of orders of the ribs to share with the table. Very tender with a nice smokey flavor. Would definitely come back.
